The novelist and diarist Fanny Burney was a frequent visitor while engaged as Keeper of the Robes to Queen Charlotte. Mary Hamilton (1756-1816) was a courtier and diarist. She was a friend of many of the prominent literary figures such as Mary Delaney, Elizabeth Montagu and Fanny Burney. Mary Hamilton was the granddaughter of Lord Archibald Hamilton, the youngest son of the 3rd Duke of Hamilton and Lady Jane Hamilton, daughter of the Earl of Abercorn. In 1777 Mary Hamilton became a member of George III's court, acting as assistant governess to the Princesses, a position she held until 1782. This letter reads "Miss Burney presents her best respects to Mrs. Delany, & is truly sorry it is out of her power to have the honour of waiting upon her tomorrow: but she has an appointment with Mrs Ord to accompany her to the last rehearsal of a new opera, which begins at 12 o'clock, & will not be over till four. Miss B. is extremely obligied to Miss Hamilton for her very kind use of secret influence, & both grieved & mortified not to be able to benefit from it. She hopes Mrs. Delany will have the indulgence to admit her some day in next week; though she dare not hint at such a wish for the [?]vase, lest it should be impracticable. When this album was released, pressings were being shifted from Parlophone to Apple labels and some mistakes were made. Whoever was in charge "forgot" to put "An EMI Recording" on any of the White Album's labels, thus constituting a clear copyright violation. Only five days after production started, on 27th November 1968, officials corrected that error and were most probably unaware of the fact that by doing so they created a highly sought-after collector item, namely a "true first press variation". The labels on this copy do not carry the "An EMI Recording" is therefore identified as having been manufactured in the first five days of production. This album was the first The Beatles undertook following the death of their manager Brian Epstein. Originally entitled "A Doll's House", the title was changed when the British progressive band Family released the similarly titled "Music in a Doll's House" earlier that year. (1)
