˜A FRENCH IVORY FIGURE AFTER THE ANTIQUE, 'DIANE DE GABIES', PERHAPS DIEPPE, LATE 19TH CENTURY Diana carved holding her drapery to her breast with one hand and to her shoulder with the other, on a cut-cornered rectangular base, fixed to an ebonised wood truncated column with octagonal plinth ivory 28.5cm high Excavated by Gavin Hamilton on Prince Borghese's property in 1792, like many of the Borghese antiquities, the marble was purchased by Napoleon and by 1820 was on display in the Louvre, becoming increasingly admired and copied as the century progessed. The Tassagart & Milford House Megaloceros GiganteusAn important set of Prehistoric Giant Irish Elk Antlers & Skull, c. 12000 - 8000 BC, approx. 226cms (89") 7'5" (2.26 meters) with 18 points, mounted on a mahogany shield shaped plaque. (1)Provenance: Discovered by Islay Hamilton Verschoyle Campbell during his archeological research in the early 1900's in the West of Ireland. Formerly housed at Tassagart, Co. Dublin and moved subsequently to Milford House, Carlow.Irish Elk is the common name for a giant, extinct deer, Megaloceros Giganteus, characterized by enormous antlers. This is the largest deer known to have ever lived. Megaloceros Giganteus appeared for the first time about 400,000 years ago and disappeared about 11,000 years ago. It ranged from Ireland and Great Britain in Western Europe and as Far East as China and Siberia during the Late Pleistocene period. Elk Antlers are a statement item and were placed in many of the big country houses around Ireland.

Sold together with a letter from the artist dated 2nd June 99 and receipt for Vost's dated 080999 for £800 plus commission and also an inscribed page from the original catalogue. CONDITION REPORTS: Generally good condition with expected wear.
Caledonian Railway nickel cased pocket watch with Swiss Zenith lever movement 2424328 which dates the watch to 1919. The rear of the case is engraved No1081 THE PROPERTY OF THE CALEDONIAN RAILWAY CO. The dial is free from chips and enamelled HAMILTON & INCHES EDINBURGH. In good working condition.
A Set of Six George II and Later Silver Dinner Plates, two with indistinct partial marks, probably that of David Willaume, London, circa 1730, and later re-worked, shaped circular with gadroon and foliate shell rim, engraved to the rim with an armorial beneath a baron's coronet, the motto garter Fax Mentis Honestae Gloria and motto scroll Ryde Through, for Hamilton, each inscribed with scratch weight to underside, 24.5cm diameter, 115ozt 16dwt (6) London Assay Office additions marks struck to the rim of the two examples with part marks A set of eight Scottish silver examples matching the present lot sold in these rooms 17th March 2018, lot 437As per catalogue description only two with partial marks, the remainder of marks presumably lost during re-working. All with knife marks, scratching and small pin head dings in various places. Engraving to rims fairly crisp. All with assay office scrapes to underside.

The Police Jacket has Los Angeles Police embroidered patches to each upper sleeves with a smaller insignia patch below. Each sleeve features a seamlessly integral long claw chrome effect arm.
