A large Edwardian silver vase on domed quatrefoil foot, by Horace Woodward & Co.Ltd., London, 1904, narrow tapering form with flared quatrefoil rim, 37 cm. high, wt. 463 gm.Pinprick ding to side otherwise good, this was once an epergne as it has a bayonet fitting at top of base that would have held a frame to take three further vases or dishes, but functions perfectly well now as simply a vase.
A GEORGE III EPERGNE on four tapering fluted legs with chased pad feet, the oval frame with a rising centre and ball knop supporting aloft a detachable wirework basket, flanked by six detachable floral scroll branches, part matt & part polished, each in turn with a lift-off circular wirework dish, the whole with chiselled borders of vitruvian scrolls and repeating anthemion motifs, by William Pitts, London 1786/87; 16.75" (42.5 cms) high; 25.75" (65.4 cms) long; 121.4 oz
