A good George III silver epergne, William Pitts, London 1808, the cylindrical rim applied with cherubs, scrolling foliage and paterae within leaf cast and chased borders, on four scrolling foliate legs with circular flowerheads, joined by four scrolling leaf capped stretchers and central bull's head crest, on paw feet, with four leaf capped partly reeded branch fitments with leafy bowls, holding a central large and four smaller cut glass bowls with fan cut rims, 16in. (40.5cm.) high, 22in. (56cm.) wide, 132 tr.oz, the glass later.
A silver plated epergne stand, late 19th century, finely cast in the Rococo taste, having central circular bowl holder cast with flower and scrolling leaves above reverse tapering quadruple acanthus leaf support, the centre with four detachable scroll form ribbed arms with holders for smaller sweetmeat bowls, all raised upon foliate cast square form base terminating in quadruple scroll feet. Height 32.3cm.
