One white knight has a small chip to the rear of the foot rim and a very small chip to the front side of the foot rim, all other white pieces have minor abrasions around the foot rim but appear to be all in good order otherwise. Any faults do not appear detrimental to the overall appearance. Four malachite pawns all appear to be in good order. The further malachite pawns have the following faults - one has a rough abrasion to the foot rim, another has a large abrasion along the side of the base, another has a very small splice missing approximately 1 cm across the base but not too deep. One pawn has a 1 cm x 5 mm section of the foot rim missing and also directly above there has been a chip which has been replaced and re-stuck with glue. One rook has a 1 cm x 3 mm chip to its foot rim, the other malachite rook has a chip to one section of the top rim on the decorative cross and a small chip to the foot rim. The king has a chip missing from its central knop and a 1 cm x 4 mm chip to the foot rim. None of the pieces appear to have been broken in two and re glued and it is still an attractive serviceable chess set.

The frieze moulding is all intact but does have gaps at the joints. The turned column is in good condition. All legs are in good order with no damage, no repairs and no restoration. Both drawers operate as they should.
