A circa 1900 French giltwood and gesso framed bergère caned bedstead, the curved ends with foliate and berry decoration over caned panels and a guilloche carved rails on turned and fluted tapering legs in the Louis XVI taste 155.5 cm wide x 225 cm long x 131 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Whilst basically sound throughout, the piece has wear and tear conducive with age and use throughout. Much of the giltwood and gesso with minor chips and loss through to the white. Canework basically sound though a couple of areas where loose at the extremities i.e. the edges. Clear gaps/cracks at the joints in several areas. Phillips screw securing headboard top left rear joint. Staining to the sides of the rails to one side in particular.
