An interesting carved oak caryatid panel, early 17th century, relief carved with fruits above a caryatid figure on a scroll and guilloche carved term, an ink inscribed label applied verso reads 'Piece of oak carving from an ancient bedstead in Warwick Castle, it was part of the wreckage from the great fire on Advent Sunday 1871. Belonged to the late Rev.C J Langston, Vicar of Beoley, Warwickshire', with further applied printed labels, 53 x 15cmCondition report: The Reverend Langston was an interesting character. He invented and published a very detailed and descriptive story in the 1880's, in which a spare skull in the Sheldon family crypt at Beoley Church, was that, once belonging to William Shakespeare. An Edwardian mahogany double bedstead with king head and footboard, on square tapering supports.Additional InformationComplete with bed base, heavy wear, knocks, scratches, one of the finials has been knocked off, part is still present, with numerous chips away from this, losses, knocks and wear. Length approx 200cm, width approx 139cm. It has the four finnials present, but one has been damaged and is extremely loose.

A Late 19th Century Carved Walnut Bedstead, the headboard with moulded canopy centred by a mask and carved urn issuing flowers flanked by panels, the footboard with moulded and scrolled decoration, on stout cabriole legs, 206cm by 218cm by 158cm (max) CONDITION REPORT: Timber slightly dry and faded. Carving overall in good condition. Would benefit from a polish. Please note we only have the side rails for the bed. Later brackets have been fitted to the side rails. Could possibly support a divan bed base.
