An interesting carved oak caryatid panel, early 17th century, relief carved with fruits above a caryatid figure on a scroll and guilloche carved term, an ink inscribed label applied verso reads 'Piece of oak carving from an ancient bedstead in Warwick Castle, it was part of the wreckage from the great fire on Advent Sunday 1871. Belonged to the late Rev.C J Langston, Vicar of Beoley, Warwickshire', with further applied printed labels, 53 x 15cmCondition report: The Reverend Langston was an interesting character. He invented and published a very detailed and descriptive story in the 1880's, in which a spare skull in the Sheldon family crypt at Beoley Church, was that, once belonging to William Shakespeare.
