Albarello Venezia,bottega di Maestro Domenego, 1570-80 ca., Maiolica a gran fuoco in policromia, altezza cm 23,0 Incrinature verticali diffuse, lievi sbeccature Corpo ovoidale, piede piano, bocca circolare. Entro un medaglione ovale è raffigurato di tre quarti S, Girolamo. La restante superficie è dipinta con tralci fogliati, ampie corolle e bacche su fondo blu, disseminato di minute spirali graffite.

A Venetian maiolica albarello 2nd half 16th century, painted to each side with a profile portrait of a man wearing a blue hat, perhaps in the workshop of Domenego da Venezia, reserved on a ground of scrolling leaves and flowerheads, some glaze wear to the rim, 16.5cm. Cf. Italian Maiolica in the Fitzwilliam Museum, pp.418-9 for other examples of work by Domenego da Venezia.
A large Delft albarello or drug jar 18th century, the slightly waisted cylindrical form painted in blue with a cartouche surmounted by two peacocks flanking a basket of fruit, inscribed 'U ALTHEÆ, S', drilled to the base, 29cm. Althaea officinalis (Marshmallow) was used particularly in treatment of inflammation of the mucus membranes, and also for throat and gastric ulcers.
A second quarter of the 17th Century Savona maiolica albarello, of diabolo form and painted in blue and manganese with swaying leaves and a hornet, butterfly and cat surrounding a banner with paper-scroll ends inscribed FARL (na) DI SE (me) DI LIN, height 16cm The first word has proved difficult to translate, the remainder is seme di lim(one) '…of lemon seeds'. Such a decoction would 'cool the heart'.

A 17th century Italian Albarello, blue and white, marked "U:Antiscorb". Height 19 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This jar is as it looks in our image. There are no actual repairs or any restoration but the piece does have a number of issues. There are areas of glaze missing around the foot rim but no substantial losses here other than minor nibbles. The glaze to the body is crazed as per our images and there are areas of loss particularly to the top left hand corner above and to the left of the letter U around the side of the piece. There are several chips to the rim and the major loss that you can see from the images.

A dated maiolica Albarello, 1555, painted with a portrait of a boy above a label inscribed mastiche (?) amongst borders of scrolling foliage on green, blue and ochre grounds, restored, 15.5cm EW CONDITION REPORT: FROM THE EVA WEININGER COLLECTION. Extensive restoration to the upper part of the albarello. 3cm additional repair to the rim. Areas of glaze loss the the body and edges. Areas touched up over the restoration lines.
A Deruta maiolica Albarello, late 16th century, the central band inscribed 'CERo OXICROTI' within a wreath dotted with pears below an angel flanked by the initials 'SM' on a bright yellow ground, flaking and chips, 18.5cm high EW Ceratum is an ointment and Oxycroti might be oxycroceum, if so the vessel contained an ointment comprising saffron, yellow wax, vinegar, myrrh, frankincense, mastic and other, unspecified, resins. It was used to relieve muscular pains. CONDITION REPORT: FROM THE EVA WEININGER COLLECTION. Chips to both top and base rims One small area loss of glaze 1.5cm long to the body.
