South Africa. 1933-6 Voortrekker Memorial Fund set of 4 pairs, each handstamped ‘SPECIMEN’ in violet 14½ x 1mm. Affixed to grey card with printed trilingual text; ‘Specimens. These stamps are produced in rolls and sheets on our rotary postage stamp printing machines working on the photogravure printing process in one operation. Goebel A.G Darmstadt’. Also on the card is a pair of ½d Springbok similarly overprinted, and a pair of the ship 1d with an ink line across. Facing paper on front with ink ‘N7- Suid Africa’ in pen. Also a horizontal pair of the ½d and a vertical pair of the 1d Voortrekker with the same violet ‘SPECIMEN’ handstamp. Undoubtedly rare. SG 50-3
