AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY SILVER MOUNTED TURKISH OR OTTOMAN BICHAQ OR DAGGER, 20cm single edged blade signed and dated AH1248 (=1832CE) and struck with a maker's stamp engraved with flowers, nielloed and engraved silver two-piece grips of yataghan form with traces of gilding, contained in its velvet covered sheath with two large silver mounts embossed and chased in relief with lions, flag trophies and towers against a rococo ground, chape with monster head finial.

MILITARIA - A FRENCH M1866 'CHASSEPOT' YATAGHAN SWORD BAYONET the 57.5cm steel blade inscribed to the back-edge 'Mre Imple de St. Etienne Juillet 1867', with a hooked quillon and a brass grip and pommel, the cross-guard with impressed number 'J 2151', in its matching steel scabbard, overall 71cm long. Condition Report : Generally good condition; cleaned and polished. Housed in its leather and steel mounted scabbard with buff leather bayonet frog attached. Yataghan blade with fuller to the back edge. Stamped with the naval issue stamp being an anchor in oval.
