Yorkshire Interest-Fine quality Victorian engraved silver presentation trowel, the handle with embossed stylised foliate decoration, the top side with conforming engraved foliate decoration and script ‘To the Revd Ralph Younger, Incumbent of Deanhead. This trowel commemorative of the commencement & completion of the Deanhead Reservoir, the first and last stones of which were laid by him, the former on the 3rd day of October 1838 & the latter on the 8th day of May 1844, is presented as a mark of esteem and affection by his obedient servants, The Commissioners of the said Reservoir’ and the underside engraved with a plan of the reservoir and the names of the commissioners including Thomas Outram, Engineer, makers William Theobalds & Robert Metcalfe Atkinson, London 1840, 35cm long ** General condition consistent with age
