JAMES BUTLER - MBE RA (1931-2022) - LARGE BRONZE OF ST PETER & ST PAUL, YORK MINSTER a large verdigris bronze of St Peter & St Paul, cast for York Minster. With St Peter holding keys in one hand and a Church in the other, and St Paul holding a sword and book. 56cms high *James Butler was a British Sculptor who was a member of the Royal Academy from 1964, he was a Fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors and Member of the Royal West of England Academy. His sculptures and monuments stand in London and other British Cities, and all around the world. He is best known for his 1980 sculpture of King Richard III in Leicester, and was regarded as one of the best figurative sculptors of his time. This sculpture was a limited edition and was cast for York Minster in 1988. Following the devastating fire in 1984, this sculpture was designed as a roof boss for the lantern tower as part of the repairs. *Artist Resale Rights applies to this lot.

An assembled group of Coalport embossed 'Rococo Revival' dessert tablewarecirca 1820-25with borders incorporating double-barrelled scrolls and festoons in low-relief, comprising a floral-painted dessert tureen, cover and stand, tureen 16.5cm high; a matching plate, 25.5cm high; a further plate painted with flowers and fruit, 21cm diameter; and a further plate with plain white and gilt border, 23.5cm diameter, unmarked,(6 pcs, including cover)Condition overall is good with no serious damages or any repairs. The dessert tureen has several short hairline cracks to the interior rim alongside some glaze crazing in this area. The stand has some heavier crazing of the glaze to both sides together with a small over gilded nibble to the underside outer rim.The fruit plate is again crazed with some yellow staining.The plate with the plainer gilt and floral border is crazed with further yellow staining. It also has some short scratches and signs of general use together with a firing crack to the foot rim.Overall gilding wear is slight, mostly small patches to some rims.

Some staining and crazing to the interior rim of the tureen and further staining to the handles. Crazing throughout. No signs of further damages or any restoration.Coalport plate - crack to rim, loss of gilding to approximately 1/2 of the border.Spode sucrier - finial to cover re-attached. Crack to the interior flange and further crack to foot rim, issuing into the base. Gilding around the sucrier is very worn.Coalport jug - No damages or repairs.Derby - Slop basin cracked, dish with stapled and re-glued repairs, heavily yellowed.Condition of the remainder of items is not stated, please ask for further details.
