AN IMPORTANT PEACE OF PARIS COMMEMORATIVE GLASS RUMMER, the bowl engraved and polished with an oval cartouche depicting a seated figure of Britannia with a recumbent lion and Union Flag shield, accompanied by two men waving to a Man O'War on the horizon beneath an angel and dove of peace. Inscribed "PEACE 1814", the reverse with the initials "GJC", within a floral cartouche, on a waisted stem and square moulded lemon squeezer foot, 8.5" high, 5.75" dia. The Treaty of Paris, signed on 30th May 1814, ended the war between France and the Sixth Coalition, part of the Napoleonic Wars, following an armistice signed on 23rd April between Charles, Count of Artois and the allies. It established peace between France and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Russia, Austria and Prussia. Provenance: Christie's, 09/03/2000, lot 72. AN 18TH CENTURY ENGLISH WRYTHEN FLUTED JELLY GLASS, 6CM H, A PAIR OF EARLY 19TH CENTURY GLASSES ON 'LEMON SQUEEZER' FOOT (ONE CRACKED), A CONTINENTAL ENGRAVED GLASS BEAKER OF FACETED FORM, A VICTORIAN GLASS BEAKER ENGRAVED IN DIAMOND POINT WITH A STEAMSHIP AND INSCRIBED ROYAL ROCK HOTEL WITH INITIALS AND A PAIR OF VICTORIAN GLASS GOBLETS ENGRAVED WITH FERNS
A group of glasses to include a rummer etched with Masonic symbols and monogram J.H. to bowl on a square lemon squeezer foot, a pair of lead crystal examples with cut petal stepped ogee bowl with knife knopped stem on domed and terraced foot, a small decanter painted with a gilt "Ketchup" label and an ale glass with etched rim and cut petal bowl on plain foot (7). CONDITION REPORT: Fritting to the top of the bottle vase, there is a bruise/chip to the corner of the lemon squeezer base on the the Masonic glass and further chip to the base approx 2mm long. The smaller Rummer glass has chips on all corners of the lemon squeezer base. The ketchup bottle stopper has a chip to the bottom and wear to gilt decoration.
A vintage mid 20th century enamel bread bin of rectangular form having a scalloped sarcophagus lid with handle atop. White ground with Bread in a soft pastel blue. Together with a stunning late 19th early 20th century cast iron lemon squeezer retaining it's original ceramic inner juicer. Please see images. Measures 36cm high.
