Residue of two old sticky labels to each side, which can be cleaned off. Finials with some light shrinkage cracking and light dirt in places. Slight tarnishing to brass mounts, rubbing and wear commensurate with use and age.

A PAIR OF LATE GEORGE III TABLE LUSTRES each with two faceted scrolling branches hung with festoons of oval-cut drops and pear-shaped drops, with brass central section supporting spear-shaped columns with crescent-shaped finials and the faceted baluster stems with square "lemon-squeezer" bases, 62cm high x 30cm wide (2). Provenance: Sold with the original Bill of Sale from Stannus (Mrs Graydon Stannus) 23 Earl's Court Square, London SW5, dated December 9th 1929 where they are described as "A set of three rare Waterford tablelights of 1780 draped with chaining pear-drops and faceted pendants. £200â€. On the basis of this description is it clear that there was originally an additional table lustre which is now missing.

The deceptive glass has a tiny crack on the footrim. One of the lemon squeezer goblets has a small rim chip, a couple of other nicks to the rim and some small chips and scratches to the foot. Third Reich Silverware, interesting small lemon squeezer with stamped eagle in the design of the Deutsche Reichsbahn but without the “DR” stamp, numbered underneath “90” which is often the case with Deutsche Reichsbahn items. Accompanied by a spoon, small dish and knife handle believed to have been taken from the Der Deutsche Hof. The Deutsche Hof was a famous hotel and club in Nuremberg which was a favourite place of Adolf Hitler when he was in the city. Famous images exist of Adolf Hitler greeting supporters from the windows of this hotel.
