With twelve further teaspoons and a pair of sugar tongs, same maker with marks for Glasgow 1860, total silver weight 161oz (81) A Victorian three-piece silver tea service by Martin Hall & Co, Sheffield 1858, comprising teapot, cream and sugar (57oz) with matching silver plated kettle on stand and a coffee pot (5) A set of four graduated silver plated meat dish covers (the smallest 37.5cm long, the largest 51cm long) A silver plated double handled serving tray 75cm across the handles A silver plated 6 bottle cruet frame (1 bottle undamaged) and a silver plated six division toastrack A silver plated entree dish and cover All items except the toastrack monogrammed "K". Weighable silver 218oz The silver chest custom fitted to take all the above items, 81cm x 51cm x 61cm With original purchase receipt from Robert Stewart, Watchmaker, Goldsmith and Jeweller, Glasgow 1860 Provenance: Mr Hugh Kirkwood Esq. (1820-1880) and thence by family descent The monogram "K" refers to Mr Hugh Kirkwood, a banker with the Thistle Bank which became part of the Union Bank of Scotland and is now part of Lloyds Banking Group. Mr Kirkwood was also factor to John Campbell Colquhoun of Killermont, part of the family of the Colquhoun's of Luss. Mr Kirkwood and his wife, Jessy lived in Killermont Cottage on the Colquhoun Estate. This chest and its contents was a wedding gift to the couple. Mr Kirkwood, an esteemed member of West of Scotland society laid the foundation stone of Partick Bridge, Glasgow.
