A LATE 19TH CENTURY WALNUT CASED FREESTANDING PENNY IN THE SLOT POLYPHON, the plinth top supported on two columns flanking an arched glazed single door, open foliate scrolls either side of the arch, the movement fitted with two upright combs to a cast metal gilt 'POLYPHON' frame, above the mechanism in a green painted frame, on a plinth base on four feet (not standing flat on a level surface), with a slot to each side for the penny, the right hand side with winding key and cabinet key, comes with ten 50cm (19 3/4 inch) metal discs housed in a homemade box (2 + 2 keys) (Condition report: the movement does not seem to wind the mechanism with the handle but it will start manually, the disc in the cabinet does not play well, all the teeth appear present on both combs, door lock mechanism isn't fitting into the lock when the key is turned and the door is difficult to open as it sticks on the base plinth, the left hand foot is raised off the ground by approximately 2.5cm)
