A Victorian Polyphon supplied by John W Bird five discs, movement numbered 144507, square mahogany case with simulated rosewood interior, case 24 x 28cm.Condition report:It winds and works properly, and sounds good. We have not wound it fully though. There are no losses to the comb, an image of which has been uploaded to the lot page on our website for you to view. It does stop at the end of the tune as it should. No seperate winding key, it winds using the crank arm at the front of the case.

A Superb Symphonion Style No. 30ST 13.1/2-inch Upright Longcase Disc Musical Box Timepiece serial no. 261784, with Symphonion patent 'Sublime-Harmonie' combs, open resonance chamber to the full length of the trunk, the Lenzkirch 14-day timepiece with Western Arabic numerals with music actuation linkage, in imposing and very finely detailed walnut case, carved with inset scrolls and geometric reserves, half-columns to timepiece housing to top, above trunk below and repeated to base and aprons, the top with double dome pediment and finials, with 13 discs (one tooth off) - 93" (236cm) total heightAlthough one of the most sought-after disc musical boxes, there were several timepiece models by Symphonion, Polyphon and others. This model was also supplied with art glass fitted as the front trunk panel for an extra fee when ordered. Grand, imposing, technically brilliant, aesthetically pleasing - typical Symphonion doing what they were famous for at the time and still admired today.

A late Victorian walnut cased Polyphon,ÿplaying 19" interchangeable metal discs with a crank wound movement, with decorative pediment two urn finial, above an arched glazed door, flanked with half turned fluted pilasters, together with another 13 discs, 109cms high x 58cms wide (43" x 23"), as a mechanical instrument, w.a.f. Late Victorian walnut 'penny-in-the-slot' Polyphon, the architectural pediment with turned finials and shell decoration above a glazed door with fretwork spandrels and flanked by turned pilasters, opening to reveal the mechanism and disk, raised upon a pullout drawer with compartments containing old coins and turned handle to the side, together with a collection of approximately thirty twenty inch disks. (B.P. 21% + VAT) In working order, no missing teeth or tooth tips to the comb

Good Victorian walnut cased coin operated polyphon, penny operated, in ornate glazed case, 69cm wide x 39cm deep x 92cm high, with winding handle, plaque to the side with legend 'Drop a penny in the slot', together work a collection of approximately 20 discsMechanism is functioning, no discernible mechanical problems, the casework has general minor wear, with small losses. Overall condition is good

Late 19th century Polyphon with key wind movement and six discs, in walnut case.The polyphon does play music. The mechanism probably needs some attention as it sometimes gets stuck. There is a broken tooth.
