An oak blanket chest, in the manner of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson, with a panelled hinged top, front and sides,110cm wide35cm deep49.5cm highCondition report: With some scuffs and stains. One small crack to the front. Hinges possibly replaced. Agewise - likely post-war. Additional images uploaded.
Robert Thompson (British 1876-1955), a 'Mouseman' carved and painted oak wall plaque for Haileybury School c.1932/3, signed with a carved mouse in profile The shield form carved with winged hearts (Haileybury school badge) and an open book inscribed in Latin "Sursum Corda" (Lift up your Hearts), painted in black, silver, red and gold 26.5 cm high, 13 cm wideSmall Chips to the top left and right corners on the front of the shield and some to the back of the pointed part of the shield. Some small losses to the black colour on the front and edges of the raised carved elements. Some losses and fading to colour on the ribbon at the top part. Some indistinct scratched letters(?) on the back. Some rubbing to other colours.
Robert Thompson (British 1876-1955), a 'Mouseman' oak bowl and cheeseboard c.1935, each signed in relief with a mouse The bowl with adzed sides; the cheese board with curved boarder, the mouse having a long tail, both with a dark patina Bowl 25 cm diameter; board 31 cm wide (2) The bowl has four splits, very evident when the bowl is turned over, when viewed as a bowl, it shows two long furrows. There is heavy wear to the bowl interior is keeping with use, and natural wear to the underside. A few small losses to mouse's ears but concealed by the patina. Cheese board: there are some 'slither' chips and losses to the lower sides and corners, all appear to be old and covered with the same aged patina. There is old wear to the top and and underside.

A MOUSEMAN OAK JOINT STOOL BY ROBERT 'MOUSEMAN' THOMPSON (1876-1955), C.1930-40 with a burr oak dished top, on faceted baluster legs united by peripheral stretchers, with a carved mouse signature with a long tail 36.8cm high, 39.5cm wide, 27.2cm deep Provenance The Estate of the late Jane Sumner.
A Mouseman Thompson of Kilburn oak octagonal coffee table, with adzed top and typical mouse trademark. Height 47 cm, width 50.5 cm, depth 49 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The table is in extremely good condition with no significant issues. The top has no stains. The supports beneath are all structurally solid. The cruciform base has some very minor liquid stains but these are minimal. The table has come into us from a house contents and we have no specific provenance.
A Mouseman Thompson of Kilburn oak kneehole desk, with shallow rear upstand and fitted with three drawers to each pedestal with wooden knob handles and typical mouse trademark to the left hand pillar, with panelled sides and complete with Mouseman lattice back chair. Desk height excluding upstand 72 cm, width 137.5 cm, depth 50.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The desk is structurally very sound. It is in generally good condition. The rear upstand is in good order. The top surface is slightly adzed. It has a few old liquid stains, ring and watermarks, none of which are particularly problematic. There is a 7 cm stress fracture on the right hand side of the top and a smaller less prominent one on the left which runs for +/- 4 cm. The top is not warped. There is some minor water damage to the frieze and drawer fronts on the right hand side but again this is minimal. The panelled sides and back are all in good order. There are some minor marks to the right and side front leg and bottom cross support. There are the usual scuffs and nibbles around the bottom of the feet but again no serious problems. The back panels are all in good order. All drawers run smoothly. Note: It is only the desk top that is slightly adzed and not the drawer fronts or panels. The chair is in extremely good condition with no significant issues. There are no loose joints. There are one or two minor water spots as is the case with the desk. These are not significant. There are some minor timber scratches. The leather seat is not torn but does have some surface marks.
