ROBERT 'MOUSEMAN' THOMPSON; an oak tall chest of drawers, the frieze decorated with 'halfpenny' detail above six drawers with turned knob handles, panelled sides and raised on stile supports, height 143cm, width 83.5cm, depth 52.5cm. CONDITION REPORT: The top has discolouration through a water stain, knobs are darker but original, otherwise appears good with no further obvious signs of faults, damage or restoration. Constructed entirely of oak. Back is panelled as sides. Drawers are oak. Depth not including handles/knobs is 49cm. Rail edges (surrounding drawers are chamfered. Handles/ knobs have smooth finish. 'Mouse' is situated at the front of the lowest horizontal support on right hand side of the chest.
ROBERT 'MOUSEMAN' THOMPSON; an oak rectangular refectory table, raised on twin octagonal end supports to slab feet, united by a central stretcher, height 73.5cm, length 137.5cm, width 75cm. Provenance: Purchased at Dacre, Son and Hartley Auctioneers, Ilkley, 1984. CONDITION REPORT: Good condition. Joints are firm. A few surface scratches, a little water mark staining to one corner, all commensurate with age.
ROBERT 'MOUSEMAN' THOMPSON; a large burr oak and oak kidney shaped table with thick shaped top raised on three octagonal outsplayed supports, height 72.5cm, length 102cm, width 81.5cm. Provenance: Purchased from Phillips Auctioneers, 1980. CONDITION REPORT: Very few small surface scratches and scuff to rounded end, commensurate with age. One third of a circular water mark (from a glass or mug for example). All joints are tight. Legs are not wobbly. All known provenance details are in the catalogue description.
ROBERT 'MOUSEMAN' THOMPSON; an oak and leather smoker's armchair with raised back, strapwork seat and square sectioned legs united by a front stretcher, height 105cm, sold with three loose cushions. Provenance: Purchased from Phillips Auctioneers, 1983. CONDITION REPORT: Leather strapping is all intact, in good condition and not "flaky". Joints are tight. Hide is not absolutely tight throughout, it's ever so slightly loose around the middle of the back, but only commensurate with age and use. Front face of the hide back shows slightly differing shades of brown in places but also only commensurate with age and use.
A 20th century oak refectory table, the adz plank top with pegged biscuit joints, on four baluster octagonal columns united by stretcher, with carved oak leaf decoration, 104cm wide x 229cm long. Illustrated This table was probably made by David Langstaff, one of the Yorkshire Critters, formerly from the Robert Mouseman Thompson of Kilburn workshop.

A ROBERT 'MOUSEMAN' THOMPSON OAK MONK'S CHAIR, C1930 the arm bow carved with two monks or saints' heads, leather seat, 79cm h, carved mouse 'signature' The Monk's chair was originally designed for the Library of Ampleforth College in the 1920s. Early examplesm such as the present lot are carved with two monks or saints heads ++We understand that this chair has always accompanied the desk in the preceding lot and like it, has never been previously offered for sale. In well used but sound, complete and original condition. Not repolished
