ROBERT MOUSEMAN THOMPSON OF KILBURN; AN OAK LATTICE BACK SIDE CHAIROn octagonal baluster supports, 42cm wide; 85cm highCondition report; the chair is very sturdy it has no wobble to the back, the leg or the stretchers. There are some small water marks to the bottom stretchers and to the leather seat. Light scratches to the seat and to the frame consistent with use. Otherwise in very good condition.
ROBERT MOUSEMAN THOMPSON OF KILBURN; A POLLARD OAK ADZED TOPPED STOOLOn octagonal baluster supports, 40cm wide; 28cm deep; 34cm highCondition:In general, good condition, the base with no damage or faults, mouse tail good, ears with extremely small chips. The top has one chip to the corner on the underside, has been coloured in and is only visible when the stool is upturned. There is also one corner that in my opinion has been broken off and re-glued, it is very hard to spot, however there are traces of wax filler, please see the additional photos, I have used the biro to indicate where I think the repair is.A handful of very minor old worm to the supports, and a couple of holes present around the mouse, One support does suffer with a shrinkage split towards the bottom section where the peg has been inserted.
A pair of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson burr oak stools, 1930s, each with an adzed and dished burr oak seat nailed to the octagonal legs, united by stretchers, each signed with a mouse signature to the leg, 40cm wide, 28cm deep, 37cm high Some splitting to the seat due to the nature of the timber. Minor knocks and wear. Otherwise a very solid and attractive pair, a small loss to one mouse ear. Does not appear to be any evidence of actual repair.PLEASE NOTE:- Prospective buyers are strongly advised to examine personally any goods in which they are interested BEFORE the auction takes place. Whilst every care is taken in the accuracy of condition reports, Gorringes provide no other guarantee to the buyer other than in relation to forgeries.
