A Victorian electroplated tipstaff- Blackfriars Bridge, unmarked, modelled as a coat of arms above Blackfriar`s bridge, inscribed `Bridge House` and `New Blackfriars Bridge July 1865`, the stem engraved, ` Bridge House Estates Committee , E. Midwinter Esq.`, height 11.8cm. This lot is accompanied with scans from The Times of reports dated 5th and 20th July 1865, giving details of the extensive arrangements and ceremony of the opening of the bridge. Also included is an extract from Thames Bridges from London to Hampton Court, giving the history of Blackfriars Bridge.
