His artistic abilities were recognised during his school years where he won gold and silver medals for art. He graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1977. Since then he has built his reputation at home and abroad. His work hangs in private collections in America, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates as well as throughout the British Isles. Commissions have been undertaken for major companies, national charities and one of Scotland's leading advertising agencies. He was the official artist to the Tall Ships visit to Greenock in 1999.

(no further volumes were printed due to the death of Harris), two engraved portrait frontispieces, folding map, single and double page plates, bound in panelled calf with gilt banded spine, bookplate for Cecil George Savile Foljambe, 1st Earl of Liverpool and with previous owners notes to endpapers, folio. (1) Re-calfed.With the usual bumps and wear to corners and spine.Shelfwave to bottom edge.Obvious split to paste-down end paper, which can be seen in online images.Crease and repair to opening “To The King”.Creases and expected spotting throughout.Map in good order, with the usual creases and has possibly been restuck at some point.
