Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society, Marine Medal, 3rd type, silver (Captain John Farmer. Ship “Kilmorey” [sic] for rescue of Crew of “Lotos” [sic] near Cape Horn 8th. Aug. 1902) with integral top riband bar, in slightly worn fitted case of issue, nearly extremely fine £120-£160 --- The Northern Daily Telegraph of 29 July 1904, states: ‘A Rescue and a Reward: At a meeting of the Local Marine Board at Liverpool yesterday a magnificent goblet, awarded by the Russian Government, was presented to Captain J. Farmer, master of the ship Kilmory, of Glasgow, for gallantry in effecting the rescue of the crew of the Russian ship Lotus on 8 August, 1902. The rescue was effected off Cape Horn in a heavy swell. The Lotus was completely dismasted, and the work was rendered additionally difficult by the wreckage about the vessel. Her crew of seventeen hands and the captain’s wife, all of whom were in a helpless condition, were safely transferred to the Kilmory.’

Victorian Pair of Medals to the Royal Navy for Service in the Crimean War, Crimea medal with clasp Sebastopol, contemporary engraved naming, “WM HORN. ORD H.M.S. TRAFALGAR” with Turkish Crimea, Sardinian type, unnamed as issued. Medal confirmed on roll for HMS Trafalgar, clasp not confirmed. William Horn served on Trafalgar from 9th July 1851 until 27th April 1855 when he transferred to H.M.S. Phoenix until 10th November 1855. He was discharged from H.M.S. Waterloo on 4th January having completed a total of 4 years and 181 days service.

WW2 German Police Bayonet by Alexander Coppel, Solingen, example with two piece stag horn grips, aluminium police eagle emblem to the centre. Eagle pommel top and cross guard with oakleaves relief. Housed in the original leather scabbard with plated mounts. Bayonet and scabbard mounts both stamped ‘S.M. III 1003’. Attached to the scabbard is the original frog which has the dress portepee attached. Polished blade with fuller to the back edge and makers trademark to the base. The blade remains in generally good overall condition. Blade measures 33 cms, overall 48 cms.
WW2 German Police Bayonet by WKC, eagle head pommel, two piece stag horn grips, missing the police eagle, cross guard and top scabbard mount stamped ‘S.B.7040’. Some shrinkage to the leather in the scabbard. Straight blade with fuller to the back edge. Blade with makers knights helmet trademark and reverse with written details of the maker. Some surface pitting to the lower portion of the blade. The blade measures 33cms, overall 46 ½ cms.
Good Silver Mounted Presentation Kukri of the Royal Gurkha Rifles Field Force, 1941, blade of conventional form 32cms, polished horn grip with soft metal inlay, nickel pommel cap engraved Lt. Col. N. Macdonald, in its silver mounted sheath, locket engraved PRESENTED BY CO’S & N.COS. 2/5TH R.G.R.F.F 1941, pierced and embossed in high relief with flowering foliage including Durgha astride half tiger half British lion, each with gilt faces, velvet covered sheath the top with pockets containing chuk-muk and companion knife. Fine condition.

Housed in the original leather scabbard with plated mounts. The cross guard has had the unit marks removed and just a number ‘1’ stamped, the scabbard chape has the unit stamp crossed out and number ‘1’ stamped. The removal of the unit stamp is period and possibly the bayonet was re-issued. Polished blade with fuller to the back edge and makers trademark to the base. The blade with some surface rusting and wear, leather shrunk on scabbard making the bayonet tight in the scabbard. Blade measures 33 cms, overall 48 cms.
Officers Full Dress Astrakhan Busby of the Isle of Wight Rifles, excellent example of an officers dress busby with black astrakhan wool body and green top, the top with knotted cord decoration, plaited dark green cords to the front, supported by blackened strung bugles to the side. Green cord boss with blackened crown and horn bugle underneath. Black feather brush plume. Interior retains the original leather sweatband and artificial silk lining, Hawkes & Co, London, gold leaf tailors details to the interior. Original patent leather chinstrap still attached. Very fine example.
