A Pathex 8mm b&w 1924 film featuring Dazzy Vance, Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth and Walter Johnson, contained in a small metal spool affixed with a label reading GRANTLAND RICE SPORTLIGHT E-13 'BASEBALL FORM' , produced by John L. Hawkinson; sold with a DVD copy of the film (2) The duration of this film is 2 minutes 19 seconds. The film commences with a demonstration of 'the harmony of action and rhythm' through the style and speed of Vance's pitching arm. Members of the public beyond look on in admiration and other players are seen in the background of the practice session. This is then compared with the left-handed Ty Cobb's swing. The cameraman zooms in on a close-up of his grip and we then see him hit two balls while a colleague pitches to another player in the background. A caption then asks 'Why is Babe Ruth still the home run king?' We witness Ruth hitting a massive blow into the skies followed by the answer 'Perfect timing with terrific power under control.' Ruth power hits three balls inside a full stadium. Walter Johnson is then introduced as 'The king of pitchers after 18 years.' We see his famous pitching action while colleagues practice in the outfield in front of an enthusiastic public. He pitches six times. On a scoreboard can be seen the notice 'Tomorrow 3pm New York Vs. Washington.'
