Early 19th century teak and brass mounted campaign chest of small proportions and in two parts, having two short over three long drawers, each with flush brass handles, 76cm wide x 40cm deep x 80cm high CONDITION REPORT Left hand is peppered with small holes, believed to have been made by darts! Some associated small losses but structure isn't compromised. Third drawer down is missing escutcheon, some fairly deep scratches but basically untouched condition- no sign of restoration, just general wear. Honest piece of furniture
A Balenciaga couture black chantilly lace cocktail ensemble, circa 1964, Paris labelled and numbered '91419' to coat, the sheer over-dress with two hip-high slits to the front skirt, scalloped hem, matching negligee-style coat which gathers into the back with silk ribbon drawstring waist; and original black silk half slip, bust 96cm, 38in, waist 81cm, 32in (3) CONDITION REPORT: Dress and jacket in good condition, no problems. Darts have been let out on slip and rear/side seams.
A Balenciaga couture purple and dark green slubbed chiné satin cocktail ensemble, Autumn-Winter, 1959, woven black on white Paris label, hand numbered bolduc 69862, with large rose repeats, the strapless dress with integral wired grosgrain corset, with cross-over pointed panels to front bodice culminating in ties at the front, curving rear waistline, with matching trapezoid bolero jacket, bust approx 81cm, 32in, waist 56cm, 22in (2) CONDITION REPORT: Fabric is fresh and lustrous. Hem has been slightly lowered on dress. Outer zip fastening on dress is defective. The rear waistline needs re-stitching approx 5cm (minor). Inner corset has 2 rear darts widened, slip attached to the corset has been replaced in cream rayon at the front.
A Jeanne Lanvin couture robe de style, 'La Mascotte', Spanish collection, 1925, un-labelled, of ivory crêpe de chine edged in scarlet, with cross-over front panels, with red silk ties to waist, the skirt embroidered with chain stitched roundels in scarlet and ivory, edged in gold thread, the inner hem with stiffened scalloped band to hold the shape, bust approx. 86-92cm, 34-36in CONDITION REPORT: Both of the red armhole bands have been replaced with near matching silk as has the rear scarlet neck band. Ivory silk areas have been replaced over both shoulders. Ivory silk is splitting at rear left shoulder seam and hole in ivory silk. Fine splits are forming in the ivory silk directly below the replaced rear scarlet neck band within a fain stain line. Small split along the vertical seam line at left waist. Faint oval water mark to bodice on front right panel approx 6 by 2cm long. Fine splits forming to cream silk at rear left armhole area. The skirt with numerous fine splits, but particularly on the left and right sides. Centre back with stain and moth hole. Faint watermarks to red hem areas. Two darts have been added to the bodice and the side seams have been re-sewn along same lines as has the waistline. Stains on tip of one waist-tie. Cream silk patch to buckram stiffened inner hem panel. Centre back skirt has 14cm vertical repair in plain silk below waistband.
A Marc Bohan for Christian Dior couture pearl beaded pink crêpe evening gown, circa 1970, white on black woven Paris label, numbered 24385, the bodice with silver and pearl beaded rope which criss-cross at the back, with long tassel, bust approx 81cm, 32in CONDITION REPORT: Overall impression: fresh, clean appearance. Some beads are detached and we have them in a bag, soiling to inside at underarms. Underarms have been folded back inside and rope twist edging moved to remove the outside perspiration line. Faint small yellow stain to rear seat area. 2 tiny rust spots to rear left hip area. Seam has been slightly taken in centre front seam at rib-cage area and 2 bust darts have been let out. Yellow stain to chiffon lining but not visible from dress exterior/ Tassels are generally good but a few missing strands. The rope edging on the dress itself is generally good.
