A 19thC pewter trophy, with inverted stem and circular beaded foot, the egg shaped body engraved Edinburgh University Athletic Club 1872, putting stone, 1st prize R W Urvine, 43ft 4inches, 17cm high. Dr R W Urvine nicknamed Bulldog, Scottish Rugby Football Player 1853-1897, amateur team Edinburgh Academicals, capped 13 times for Scotland 1871, including the 1st ever rugby international for Edinburgh Academicals, his brother was Duncan Urvine, also capped for Scotland. The cup is for the putting stone 1st prize, similar to shot put whilst at Edinburgh University.
