An historical, hardwood mounted, white metal memorial plaque presented to the Famous Aviatrix, The Hon. Mrs Victor Bruce F.R.G.S. (1895-1990). The wood carved with peaches, the plaque designed with lotus beside the four-line inscription with the date, (?) 12-11-1930. Acknowledged as the first pilot to fly from England to Japan, the first Aviator to cross The Yellow Sea, and the first woman to circumnavigate the land mass of the World by aircraft, Mrs Bruce received this award for the 10,000 Km flight, (presumably to Amoy), with the Compliments of The Xiamen City Air Force (?or Navy). Overall dimensions about 16.5 x 18 cm, with hinged wood stand.Mrs Bruce's autobiographical account of this journey appears on a number of 78 rpm, 12 inch, records issued by Columbia Records and a written summary by Mrs Bruce, also appeared in her 292 page book, entitled. 'The Bluebird's Flight' (published by Chapman & Hall Ltd./London/MCMXXXI. The foreword by Colonel The Master of Sempill, A.F.C., A.F.R. Ae.S.). Condition Report Please note that the damage includes: some areas of wear, deterioration and/or bruising to both metal and wood.
