(24cm.) high (some slight moth damage, mechanism inoperative) - from a 19th century nursery rhyme, first written down by Sarah Josepha Hale in 1830

A rare Chad Valley Dart’s Tich cloth doll early 1930s, with painted stockinette face, jointed cloth body, original cloth comprising wool cloth cap and jacket, felt shorts and cotton shirt, socks and shoes and original card tag —10in. (25.5cm.) high (small hole to face, discoloured and faded) - Tich was a comic strip written by Frank Dowling and illustrated by “Dart.” The original “Dart” was a man named Martin, although it is uncertain if this was a surname or a last name. Tich ran in the Daily Mirror from November 21, 1931, to November 25, 1933. The second “Dart”, Stephen Phillip Dowling (1904-1986)
