A Norah Wellings 'South Sea Islander' brown velvet doll, with a black wig, inset glass eyes, and painted mouth, wearing a rafia skirt and wooden bead adornments, 40cm high (inclusive of wig top-knot); together with a Chad Valley tinplate money-box, in the form of a book, 'Happy Days', complete with key, good condition, (2). GWR Jigsaw 'London Highways' manufactured by Chad Valley in Carter Paterson box. Depicts a Claude Buckle interpretation of a view across the River Thames looking north-east to the City and Tower Bridge. A Carter Paterson van together with 3 London buses is crossing the bridge and an aeroplane can be seen above. Introduced in 1934 and withdrawn 1936. Unlike this example, the later, version, 'London Bridge' did not have the aeroplane in the view. Made up on card to show completeness and comes with original, book type box which is in reasonable condition, having the 'CP' label on the spine.

GC-VGC.
Chad Valley: large teddy bear, black and orange eyes (one detached), felt pads, tag label to chest and label to left pad 745mm :. from memory the vendor recalls information that this bear was originally purchased at Robinson's Store, Raffles Square Singapore; similar style Teddy Bear with shaggy pile 460mm; small bear 295mm, worn, lacks eyes (3)
An Alpha Toys fabric doll in unfaded original Mexican costume. With a felt faced lady doll with colourful velvet costume. Labelled "Chad Valley Co Ltd" H18. This and the following 11 lots were given to her pupil in the 1930's by an Austrian governess. Each lot sold with a copy of photographs of original owner and her governess Maria Schiefner. The governess returned to Austria when Hitler invaded. The dolls were treasured and kept in near pristine condition. An original letter can be seen. Some dolls were especially ordered from Austria, some purchased in Ireland
