dating: Second part of the 20th Century provenance: Indopersia, Slightly counter-curved, double-edged blade, ribbed and slightly enlarged towards the tip, then flat, surface with traces of damask type weave, small gilded cartouche on one side with short inscription in Arabic letters. Semi-transparent stone grip of lavender color with pommel shaped as parrot's head, richly decorated with relieved, gilded metal rinceaux ending in cabochon of green and red color, pommel base with metal and red stones collar. Without scabbard. length 34 cm.

Some dent on the edge and traces of finished background. Brass, French type hilt with relieved flowers and guard provided with lateral loop. Short cap with laurel branches. Leather-covered grip with copper wire binding. Without scabbard. length 88 cm.
dating: early 20th Century provenance: Morocco, Curved, single-and half-edged blade, silver-inlaid with spirals at the base and one the back. Silver ring-nut with small quillon, adorned with rinceaux in bass-relief. Wooden grip with metallic, traversal bands. Polilobed, silver cap, with rinceaux in bass-relief. Silver scabbard. Opening with two inscriptions in Arabic. A long cartouche with another inscription in Arabic in the center of one of the sides, a series of rinceaux bands around it, and grooves to imitate the concentric circles. Tip and cap decorated with rinceaux in bass-relief. Two, engraved lugs. length 40 cm.

France.- Paris.- Turgot (Michel Etienne) Plan de Paris, engraved throughout with folding key map and 20 detailed maps by Claude Lucas after Louis Bretez, on thick laid paper, all double-page and mounted on stubs, maps 18 and 19 incorporating title in elaborate cartouche, key map with partial hand-colouring, some light spotting or browning and marginal soiling, one or two with light marginal water-staining, a couple with short tear to lower margin reinforced, modern red morocco with French royal arms in gilt in centre of on both boards, light fading to upper cover, edges slightly rubbed, [Berlin Kat. 2506; Cohen-de Ricci 807; Millard, French 39], large folio, Paris, [c.1739]. ⁂ Turgot's magnificent plan of Paris comprises twenty sheets forming a single birds-eye plan within a decorative engraved border, measuring approximately 2.5 x 3.2 metres. The extraordinary detail provides a fascinating guide to the city prior to its development by Haussmann in the 19th century.
Somerset.- Saxton (Christopher) Somersetensem Comitat (agri fertilitate Celebrem), an excellent well-inked impression, with strapwork title cartouche surmounted by the royal arms, putti and drapery, upper left, arms of Thomas Seckford lower right, large compasses, scale and banderole lower left, ships and sea monster, engraved map, on laid paper without watermark, 395 x 520 mm. (15 1/2 x 20 1/2 in), central vertical fold with minor splitting to lower edge, slight browning, minor handling creases, unframed, 1577.
Mashad carpet with inscription, Khorasan, north east Persia, circa 1920s, 13ft. 10in. X 10ft. 4in. 4.22m. X 3.15m. Few small spots of old moth damage at the lower end. Velcro strips for underlay in places verso. Inscription cartouche in outer guard at the top end. Pink/red cartouche shape field with indigo, pale blue, ivory and pale green centre medallion; the spandrels banded in dark blue, ivory and pale blue with a single dark blue vase in each corner; all over racemes of flowers and foliage; dark blue main border; pale blue and ivory floral guards. A very pretty carpet with close clipped velvety wool and medium handle.
Heriz carpet, north west Persia, late 19th/early 20th century, 13ft. 9in. X 11ft. 5in. 4.19m. X 3.48m. Overall wear, slightly heavier in some places; small crease marks on left side. Slight losses to ends. Dark blue centre medallion with jewelled pendants on a light terracotta cartouche shape field; large pale blue spandrels with light terracotta and pale blue quarter medallions; dark blue main border and pale yellow guards. A splendid carpet with a powerful design, enlivened with an abundance of pale blue details. Relatively soft handle.
Tabriz 'Haji Jalili' carpet, north west Persia, late 19th century, 11ft. 10in. X 8ft. 5in. 3.60m. X 2.56m. Overall wear; slightly heavier in some places with repairs and small reweaves. Slate blue cartouche shape field with central medallion and spandrels; pale yellow faded to ivory main border and rich terracotta red guards. Lustrous close clipped velvety wool; typical overall soft palette.
European machine made carpet, mid-20th century 11ft. 6in. X 8ft. 3.50m. X 2.44m. Slight wear in places; surface/water marks top end outer borders. Light red cartouche shape field with dark blue central medallion and main border. Printed label lower right corner verso bearing a Frankfurt address, possibly with cleaning instructions. Saffron yellow field with central dragon chasing a flaming pearl; ribbon tied flowers each end; pagoda and seawave border at each end; yellow trellis and floral cartouche main border. Bright palette.
Esfahan pictorial tree of life rug, central Persia, circa 1930s-40s, 8ft. X 4ft. 7in. 2.44m. X 1.40m. Slight wear in places and some colour run.. Pale blue field filled with animals and birds among flowering trees; ivory floral and bird main border; pale green vacant cartouche in the top outer guard.
Correction: This fine embroidery is probably Chinese, 20th century and not Ottoman as stated in the printed catalogue. 48in. X 38in. 122cm. X 96cm. Some surface marks. The yellow silk ground embroidered in coloured silks with tulips, carnations and other flowers around a small diamond shaped floral cartouche and matching quarter medallions in each spandrel; the border composed of panels of similar flowers and foliage, with an urn of flowers in each corner. Attractive printed floral cotton lining in earthy tones of red and blue within a wide border of narrow dark blue and ivory brocaded silk outer border.
