A George II Silver Salver, by George Wickes, London, 1754, shaped circular and on three cast foliage feet, with shaped and foliage cast border, later engraved with a coat-of-arms within the original cartouche, 40cm diameter, 53oz 6dwt,1,658gr The later coat-of-arms is that of Kinnear.. Fully marked underneath. Further engraved with scratch weight '54=11'. The marks are clear. There is overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points. The centre has been erased and is somewhat thin.

A George II Silver Salver, by Hugh Mills, London, 1747, shaped circular and on three pad feet, with shell cast shaped border, engraved with a crest, 20.5cm diameter, 10oz 2dwt, 315gr. Fully marked underneath. There is overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points. The crest and cartouche are possible later. The surface is somewhat bright. There are some repairs where the border and base meet.

There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use.

Part marked inside base and cover. There is some minor wear to the marks. In generally good condition with only some minor surface scratches and wear, consistent with age and use.

A Pair of George II Silver Decanter-Labels, by Sandilands Drinkwater, London, Circa 1750, each cartouche shape and with suspension chain, each later engraved, one for 'Dumbarton', the other for 'London Gin', 5.5cm wide, 14dwt, 21gr (2) . Each marked on the reverse with maker's mark and lion passant. The marks are generally clear. There is some overall surface scratching and wear. Each has been later engraved over the original engraving which has been flooded and which is partly visible on each.

A Silver Mounted Mother-of-Pearl Snuff-Box, Apparently Unmarked, Probably 19th Century, cartouche shaped, the hinged cover with a carved mother-of-pearl panel depicting a young boy with a sailor hat at the seashore, with reeded sides, 7cm wide . Apparently with no marks. The silver mounts with some scratching and minor bruises overall. The mother-of-pearl plaque is intact, though with a small crack or flaw at the bottom left hand corner.

A Continental Silver-Gilt Snuff-Box, Maker's Mark HE? Only, Circa 1780, Perhaps Scandinavian, cartouche shaped, the hinged cover and base chased with figures within scrolls, the sides chased with classical portrait busts, 6.1cm wide, 1oz 8dwt, 43gr. Marked on bezel with maker's mark only. The mark is somewhat worn or poorly struck and so is only partly visible. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the gilding., There has been a repair to the bottom front edge and there is some minor bruising overall.

A Victorian Silver Punch-Bowl, by Walter and John Barnard, London, 1886, tapering and on spreading conforming foot, the body chased overall with foliage scrolls and flowers, each side with a cartouche, one engraved with a coat-of-arms below an earl's coronet, the other engraved with an inscription, in a fitted mahogany case and with a George III silver toddy ladle with twisted whale bone handle, London, 1781, the bowl 30cm diameter, weighable silver 46oz 10dwt, 1,446gr The inscription reads 'Presented by Frank Andrew, J.P, Mayor of the Manor of Ashton under Lyne (1885-86, 1886-87) to the Court Leet of the Trustees of the Late Earl of Stamford and Warrington in Commemoration of the Fiftieth Year of the Reign of Her Most Gracious Majesty Queen Victoria Ashton under Lyne, 20th June 1887' Provenance: Bonhams, Chester, 5 July 2011, lot 340. . The punch bowl marked on lower body. The marks are clear. In generally good condition with only some very minor scratching and wear. The toddy-ladle marked inside the bowl. There is wear to the marks and the maker's mark appears to be lacking. There is a patch to the ladle where the crest is engraved. The case with scratches and scuffing overall.

An 18 Carat Gold Open Faced Pocket Watch, signed Patek Philippe & Cie Geneve, 1925, frosted gilt finished movement with a ''moustache'' lever escapement, movement signed Patek Philippe & Cie Geneve and numbered 194761, split bimetallic balance with a blued overcoil hairspring, wolf's tooth winding, silvered dial with Breguet type Arabic numerals and signed, seconds dial, blued spade hands, inside back cover stamped with maker's mark PP.Co and 18kt, numbered 289499, case also stamped GS in a cartouche for George Stockwell, London import mark for 1925, 18 carat gold cuvette cover signed and numbered, 45mm wide see illustration 30.04.21 Case with surface scratches, case back and sides with two minor dents, dial with minor marks in parts, winding smoothly and hand setting correctly, movement is clean and in going order. Total watch weight 72.7g.

An Edwardian Diamond Brooch/Pendant, the openwork scroll cartouche set throughout with old cut and rose cut diamonds, in white collet settings, total estimated diamond weight 2.50 carat approximately, measures 3.7cm by 3.7cm see illustration NB: one diamond deficient but present . The brooch/pendant was valued for insurance purposes in 2014 at £3940. The brooch is in fair condition, there are chips to diamonds throughout and one diamond is deficient but present. It fastens with a pin and revolver catch. The pendant bale is hinged. It bears no hallmark nor stamp but in our opinion would test as gold and silver. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour I/J/K, clarity I1/I2/I3. Gross weight 6.5 grams. CR made 02.06.21.

A George IV Silver Mounted Coconut Cup, the silver London 1822, of ovoid form, carved with various objects in roundels and with a vacant cartouche within foliate borders, on a knopped stem and domed base with bands of stylised foliage, 17.5cm high. Vacant cartouche originally with applied silver mount, now missing. Cup cracked. Top mount loose. Stem loose. Some typical surface wear, minor chips and flakes throughout.

Of The Eastern Telegraph Company Ltd interest. a large quantity of letters from Edward Riddle dating from mid 1860s to 1890s, a small quantity from Edward Riddle to his parents and the remainder to his wife, Edward's mother had asked for cadetship in the Royal Navy for him in May 1859 which was refused due to change in rules and that he had not attained the age of 14 yet. In 1861 census he is a naval cadet and on board ship. by the early 1860s he had been to Lisbon,Australia and New Zealand and was sitting exams for midshipman in late 1862. 1864 on the Falcon he has a disciplinary action and is selling clothes via Paymaster John G Shepherd. Later letters dating 1865 -1890 he is employed by the Eastern Telegraph Co having left employment at The Royal Observatory and will be foreman at 7 shilling a day for the first 3 months of employment. He complains about the condition of the ships he travels and works in whilst organising the laying of cables in Hong Kong, Java, Macassar, Touran Bay, Suez etc. A letter from the Telegraph company in Dec 1888 gives him instructions for laying cable in Cossack Bay. Edward's parent's were John Riddle, Teacher of Nautical Science at Greenwich Hospital and Georgina MacKenzie. The family of 5 resided in Greenwich in 1861. He married Charlotte Lucas in 1873 and worked alongside her brother Frank for many years. There is also mention of a book he wrote. Also included in the lot are some 19th Century Chinese paper dominoes and a paper knife with cartouche with The Eastern Telegraph Company Limited, The Eastern Extension Telegraph Company Limited 50 &11 Old Broad St London E.C, 1893, a calendar to the handle and world atlas to either side.

Miniature tea bowl and saucer in good condition. Tea jar with glaze chips and fritting. Odd saucer cracked. Odd coffee cup chipped. Coffee cup and saucer - cup cracked. Saucer in good condition.

A Chinese Porcelain Coffee Cup and Saucer from the Sir Joshua Reynolds Service, Qianlong, circa 1785, painted and gilt with a cypher in a ribbon tied oval cartouche within a Fitzhugh type border in underglaze blue Provenance: From the Private Collection of the Aylmer family, who are descended from Sir Joshua Reynolds' elder sister, Mary Palmer (1716-1794) See Howard (David Sanctuary) Chinese Armorial Porcelain, pg.686 for a tea canister from this service where it is noted that the cypher contains every letter in the word ''Reynolds'' and that it seems almost certain that Sir Joshua Reynolds designed the service for himself. For a plate from the same service see Christie's, King Street, 7 April 1997. Typical wear to gilding and some other minor surface wear. Some fritting to the rim of the cup.
