A good French gilt brass carriage clock c.1915, probably by Couaillet, the two train movement with engraved hand setting arrow and platform escapement, striking on a gong, the enamelled dial with Gothic Arabic numerals and floral swags, signed `Roger Guernsey Made in Paris`, in a beaded Corniche case, with original maroon leather carrying case and key. Maurice gilt-brass repeater carriage clock Late 19th century, French, stamped to backplate ``E.M. & Co.`` within an oval and numbered ``559``, and with illegible rubbed retailer`s name to dial, the scrolled handle over an ``anglaise riche`` case with fluted angles to all four corners and beveled glass sides, back and top, enclosing a filigree mask surrounding a circular dial with matte chapter ring, black Roman hours and blued steel hands, attached to a twin barrel movement and coiled gong, hour-repeating, strikes on the hour and the half, retains original key also numbered ``559``, with handle down 6.5`` H x 4`` W x 3.5`` D, est: $600/900 Provenance: Property from a Residence, San Marino, CA. Condition: Overall good condition. General marks and scratches to surfaces commensurate with age and use. Black marks to dial. Extensive rubbing to gilt brass surfaces. Late nineteenth century carriage clock with French eight day movement, no. 2384, striking on a gong, lever escapement, white enamel dial with Roman numerals, in a silver mounted tortoiseshell case with applied initial 'T' and scroll motto - 'Time Tryeth Truth', ornate swing handle, on four fluted ball feet (London 1893), 15cm overall height to handle CONDITION REPORT Upon close inspection it would appear that the movement is likely to be a replacement and probably taken from a carriage clock, as the dial behind the tortoiseshell is an enamelled rectangular plate and the platform on which the movement sits is relatively crude. Tortoiseshell is damaged to the front at 9 o'clock. Rear door is cracked and base panel has been broken and has piece missing. There are crude lead solder repairs to feet. We are unable to say whether or not the movement is in full working order
