More than any other car it was the MG TC that was responsible for starting the American love affair with the British sports car, many of the 10,000 produced up to the end of 1949 finding customers in the USA.An exceptionally original TC Midget, this example was delivered new to Belgium and has had only three registered owners from new in over 70 years. The car was purchased new by a Mme Burtonboy of Brussels, who had seen the TC while visiting the showroom of Établissements P Decrose (see letter on file). The MG remained in Brussels, passing to Mr de Ghellinck in the 1970s. Its last (third) registered owner was Mr Toon Seppion, a passionate classic-car enthusiast, who registered the TC in his name in 1999 and kept it until recently. Mr Seppion confirmed he has driven 10,000 kilometres in about 20 years and absolutely loved his little MG TC. He's especially complimentary about the car's reliability, road holding and of course its originality.Beautifully patinated and never restored, this is an exceptional matching-numbers example boasting a lovely original interior. We're advised by Mr. Seppion that the TC has hardly done any kilometres since new seals were fitted and that apart from the fuel tank the car is still mostly first paint, with the correct green bulkhead for a pre-1948 model. Importantly, the odometer reading of 96,000 kilometres is the genuine distance covered from new. The comprehensive history file contains the original service book with 46 services up to 1989 at 83,000 kilometres; recent service invoices; an original instruction manual for the MG Midget (Series TC); an MG TC sales brochure; Belgian registration papers; and a valuation report dated 2017 confirming the car's lovely original condition.Lot to be sold without reserve. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
