SMITH ROSS (1892-1922) & KEITH (1890-1955) Australian Aviators, the first people to fly from England to Australia, 1919. Printed brochure signed, by both Ross and Keith Smith individually, the 4to brochure being a short story of the Ross Smith flight from England to Australia under the patronage of the Prince of Wales. Illustrated with a map of the flight from Hounslow to Port Darwin, portraits of the brothers in their flying caps and goggles and also featuring an advert for an illustrated travelogue. Signed by both Ross and Keith Smith with their names alone to light areas of the attractive cover. Some light overall age wear and minor foxing and discolouration to the cover, largely at the edges. LZ 130 `Graf Zeppelin`. Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei G.M.B.H., n.d., c. 1939, folding publicity brochure/poster, fine coloured artwork, approx. 35 x 59cm fully opened, VG. LZ 130 was the last of the great German rigid airships built by the Zeppelin Luftschiffbau during the inter-war period. Often referred to as Graf Zeppelin II, this airship made a total of thirty flights including a propaganda flight on 2nd December 1938 when small parachutes were thrown out with swastika flags and handbills carrying the text `Dein JA dem Fuhrer!` and loudspeakers played music and National Socialist propaganda. The last flight was made on 20th August 1939 and in April 1940, Hermann Goering ordered that both Graf Zeppelins should be scrapped as the metal was needed for the war effort. (1)
