A pair of "Memphis Group" high back chairs, upholstered in a light coloured gold velvet with black trim and black fringing to base. The Memphis group was founded in Milan in 1981 by Etlove Sottass. The designs are based on post-Modernism, featuring block colours and angular designs. Sottass organised meetings with other designers, and from this they formed this group. The name was taken after the Bob Dylan song. "Stuck inside of Memphis with the Memphis blues again" Not only did they draw on this, the group was influenced by the Art Deco A/A pop art styles
