LABYRINTH (1986) - Humongous MaquetteA Humongous maquette from the production of Jim Henson's musical fantasy film Labyrinth. A mechanical Humongous attacked Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) during her quest to rescue her infant half-brother from the Goblin King (David Bowie). Maquettes were used by the visual effects department as master reference for colour matching. Made of foam rubber, the maquette depicts the fearsome Humongous robot with its spiked armour. The film's robot traversed the Goblin City gate, so this piece exhibits a vertical groove along its centre, with dual pull-rings on its stomach. It has been intricately painted to replicate the look of rusty iron. The surface paint is cracked and a horn is missing from the head. This arm matches the one seen on screen through its intentional dirt marks and grime. The arm is constructed from hollow plastic with faux access panels and two points of articulation. It is hand-painted white and grey, with dirt and grime intentionally applied to make it appear well used. Decals are applied to both sides of the upper casing, bearing a "LUNAR INDUSTRIES, INC." logo, the words "3000 Robotic Assist", and the model number "554-FD 1", respectively.
