Early Leica Ia Elmax Camera with Low 3-digit Serial Number - #324. In poor, but original condition but VERY difficult to find examples this early, regardless of condition. The black paint has been removed from the top plate, base is missing, covering missing in several places (reglued by Malcolm Taylor after his inspection). The viewfinder has been replaced as has the film cassette "spindle" (a Leica agent or factory up-grade) the latter to allow the use of standard film cassettes. All the sprocket winding gear & reverse mechanism gear train is correct. The underside of the speed setting turret has the number 324 inscribed, correct for a camera of this period. The lens flange is missing one screw and on removing the 4-element Elmax lens (not normally possible with this model but the 'stop' is missing) the number 56 can be seen stamped on the back of the tab.PLEASE NOTE: This camera has been authenticated by Malcolm Taylor and a copy of his report is included with the camera (see final two images).
