The Austin J40 pedal car is a miniature replica of the Austin A40 motor car produced by the Austin Motor Company. The J40 was designed for children aged between three and six years old, and it quickly became a popular toy car in post-war Britain. The car was made from heavy-gauge steel. The J40 was available in a range of colours, including red, green, blue and yellow. This example is presented in Old English White with red interior and a white steering wheel. These examples are highly sought-after and can be seen regularly at the Goodwood Revival. The only silent racing cars at the Goodwood Revival aren't Formula E cars that have snuck in unnoticed, they're the Austin J40 pedal cars of the one-make start-finish thrash that is the Settrington Cup. Powered by the children of the great and the good at the Revival, without anything close to a single horsepower, a licence to race or even drive, the racing is no less competitive. It's a fight down to the wire where slow and steady wins the race with energy reserved at the start fully deployed towards the end to take the win! Today, the J40 pedal car is highly sought-after by collectors and enthusiasts, and this example is presented to auction in excellent restored condition and is offered without reserve. Consigned by Fraser Smith

Holder of the Guinness World Record: land vehicle with most cylinders2003 Whitelock 4200cc Tinker ToyRegistration no. A48 CYLFrame no. SW000048•Unique 48-cylinder motorcycle•Sixteen Kawasaki KH250 engines•Offered for sale by its creator•Road legalThis 48-cylinder Kawasaki behemoth is the work of prolific special-builder Simon Whitelock and was created with sole purpose of setting an unbeatable Guinness World Record as the land vehicle with the most cylinders. The machine takes its name from a B17 Flying Fortress bomber of WW2, one of Simon's other interests being the multi-cylinder aero engines of the period. (Tinker Toy is the American equivalent of Meccano.)A died-in-the-wool Kawasaki fan, especially of the KH250 triple, Simon built his first Kwacker special, a triple-based four-cylinder, around 1987, following up with a nine-cylinder triple-triple, seven-cylinder inline triple, and then an H2R replica. At the same time Alan Millyard, the well known motorcycle engineer and builder of some of the most spectacular specials of recent times, was also creating multi-cylinder designs. Determined to put an end to the multi-cylinder 'arms race', Simon hit upon the idea of building a 48-cylinder monster using sixteen KH250 engines, the latter being chosen for their cheapness and availability. The bike would not be built for power or speed, but solely to put the record beyond anyone else's reach. The project commenced in 1998 and was not completed until 2003, with 80% of the work being done in the final year. The cylinders have been configured as six straight-eights, each with its own ignition and Mikuni carburettor, while the exhaust is laid out as a 24-into-1 on each side. The 'tank' is a stretched KH250 component the serves as a cover for electrical and ignition components, while the actual fuel tank (made from 150mm diameter stainless steel tubing) is located between the middle and lower cylinder banks. There is also 125cc single-cylinder two-stroke scooter engine, which serves as the starter motor.Needless to say, the frame was custom made. The front end is from a Honda Gold Wing, the Hagon wheel rim being laced with heavy-duty spokes, as is the rear, while the transmission was taken from a BMW K100. Extra springs were fitted to the front forks. The clocks are Scitsu, as is the modified tailpiece, while electrical power is provided by a car-type alternator. The bike weighs 600kg, amazingly, it is road legal. When it first fired up, without the exhaust system, Simon says the engine sounded just like a Rolls-Royce Merlin, which he must have enjoyed as a devotee of WW2 aviation. The machine is said to be very smooth when running.A recent attempt to get the machine running failed, although the engine did 'fire up' a little. The starting motor fired up OK but it would appear that the Mikuni carburettors' jets are blocked (the engine last ran in 2015). Thankfully, there are only six such carburettors to deal with! Simon has said that he is willing to help the successful purchaser get the machine running. There is a two part film on Youtube of Simon discussing the build of this machine and a wonderful video of him riding the bike! Viewing is highly recommended.Guaranteed never to be upstaged, no matter what the company, this breathtaking Colossus of a motorcycle comes with its framed Guinness World Records certificate and a UK V5C registration document.Offered with keyFootnotes:All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.REQUEST A TRANSPORT QUOTEPlease click the link to request a transport quote from our recommended transport company, Moving Motorcycles. To request a UK or European shipping quote - Moving MotorcyclesTo request an International shipping quote - ShippioThis Lot will be auctioned on Sunday 21 April starting at 11am GMT.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Registration - DK10 FVZ Chassis No. - W701183214 M.O.T. - May 2010 Odometer - 31,079 A rare opportunity to own a focused track-day machine from kit-car builders MNR Sportscars, this Vortex RT is presented in beautiful Guards Red-style bodywork, with black leather racing seats. Fully road-legal, ‘DK10 FVX’ is powered by a new 1.3-litre Suzuki Heyabusa-derived engine, and is fitted with racing features such as sports Alcantara steering wheel, full roll-cage, and multi-point harnesses. Built on a space-frame steel chassis, this example comes with a manual six-speed transmission, and an indicated 31,079 miles on the clock. It’s described as a ‘fantastic track car’, with the red-line not displayed on the dial until 11,000rpm, thanks to that high-revving motorcycle-sourced unit. Extremely lightweight, with glass-fibre bodywork and minimalist cladding, the MNR Vortex RT needs work carrying out on the clutch – which is described as in ‘average’ condition – but otherwise all other elements of ‘DK10 FVZ’ are described as in good or excellent condition. The vendor is including a trailer in the sale, and is only offering the vehicle for auction because it is no longer needed. Founded in 1998 by former British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) driver Marc Nordon, MNR Sportscars started out as a race preparation subsidiary of Bintcliffe Sport and Xcel Motorsport. This meant it worked on the preparation of racing cars for BTCC, British GT, Ascar, and Renault Clip Cup campaigns, supporting a number of notable drivers across Europe. Now with more than two decades’ of experience in designing and building sportscars, the design is based loosely on the Lotus Seven shape, but with a number of key differences. A standard chassis is used across most products, and changes come largely in terms of engine fitted, though there is also an RT Mazda, which aims to use as many components from the Mazda MX-5 as possible in the build process. In summary · Unusual but well-regarded track-day toy · Offered with custom trailer for transportation · Fully road-legal model
Registration – W832 VLC Chassis No. – WP0ZZZ99ZYS605943 M.O.T. – May 2024 Odometer – 48,600 Presented in Basalt Black metallic paint with black Nappa leather interior, this beautiful example of Porsche’s 996-generation 911 Carrera 4 comes exquisitely specified, and with low mileage for its age. Owned by the present vendor for the last 12 years, it has completed only 17,000 miles in that time, and has an indicated 48,600 miles on the odometer in total. Used as a weekend toy for the past dozen years, noe expense has been spared in maintenance, with a full service history and folder filled with receipts, documents, and full Porsche book pack. Fitted with 18-inch Turbo alloys, this 911 Carrera 4 features Porsche’s 3.4-litre flat-six engine and Tiptronic automatic transmission. Factory fitted options include an electric sunroof, Alcantara roof-lining, half-electric heated seats, and two keys. A previous owner cherished ‘W832 VLC’ so much that the Swiss gentleman brought the car with him when he moved to the UK. The fifth generation of Porsche’s iconic 911, the 996 was manufactured from 1997 in all three body styles – coupe, convertible, and targa. The two most significant new features were the ‘fried egg’ headlight clusters, rather than rounder units found in 911s before and since, and, more importantly, the change to a water-cooled engine from the traditional air-cooled units. Offered initially in coupe and cabriolet forms, the 996 came with rear-wheel drive and the 3.4-litre six cylinder engine, before seeing that expanded to offering four-wheel drive in the Carrera 4 later on. In 2000, Porsche introduced the Turbo version, with four-wheel drive and a larger 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged engine, before focused GT variants – GT2, GT3, and GT3 RS – were presented to the public before its replacement in 2006. · Beautifully presented example of the 996 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 · Well-appointed inside and out with factory-fitted parts · Relatively low mileage for its age, showing fewer than 49,000 miles
