- Reportedly sold new by Cornes Ferrari in Japan- Registered in the UK in April 2015 and described by the vendor as being in good to very good condition- Finished in the classic and desirable Ferrari colour combination and sporting the F1 transmissionIntroduced at the May 1994 Geneva Salon, the F355 was the standard bearer for a new generation of more technologically advanced 'small' Ferraris. Based around a robot-welded sheet steel monocoque equipped with all-round independent double-wishbone suspension, ventilated ABS disc brakes, and power assisted rack and pinion steering, it utilised a new computer-controlled electronic damper system that self-adjusted depending upon the feedback gleaned from various road speed, brake pressure, suspension loading, and steering sensors. Further enhanced by a 'ground effects' under-tray which created a welcome pressure differential at high speeds, the F355 was revealed to be seven seconds and four seconds a lap faster round Ferrari's Fiorano test track than the 348 and 512TR respectively. Cradled by a separate subframe, its longitudinally mid-mounted 'quad-cam' 3496cc V8 boasted an 11.1:1 compression ratio, F1-style titanium con-rods, forged alloy pistons, three-inlet and two-exhaust valves per cylinder (40 in total) and the latest Bosch M 2.7 engine management system. Developing an incredible 380bhp and 268lbft of torque, it drove the rear wheels via a neatly integrated transverse six-speed manual gearbox. Reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds, 0-100mph in 10.6 seconds and 185mph, the F355 was an undoubted supercar. Styled by Pininfarina, its retractable headlights, reversed elliptical grille, 'bullet hole' driving lights, uncluttered side air intakes, subtle engine lid spoiler and quad circular rear lights met with widespread approval. Beautifully trimmed, the model's cosseting interior came with leather upholstery, electric windows and air-conditioning as standard. Unveiled at the May 1995 Monaco Grand Prix meeting, the F355 Spider benefited from a strengthened body-shell and specially reinforced windscreen, it permitted 'wind in the hair' 180mph motoring! The classically coloured F355 Spider offered here is fitted with the popular F1 transmission and is believed to have been sold new in Japan by the well-known authorised dealership Cornes. Leaving Japan's car friendly climate, it was registered in the UK in September 2014 and has been enjoyed by just one owner in England. This beautiful and iconic Ferrari is described by the vendor as having "very good bodywork, paintwork, interior trim and engine".

Toys for Boys: A SA-2 Guideline rocket circa 1960 Titanium, stainless steel and aluminium, with numerous stencils in Cyrillic and later signed by Senator John McCain 10.9 metres; 37.76 feet long This rocket is part of the S-75 family of rockets which were developed in the late 1950's in response to combat America's long range bombers. The S-75 and its many variants provided much of the air defence of the Soviet Union and numerous other countries which adopted it. This is a two stage rocket with an initial solid fuel rocket booster which burned for four seconds and a second stage liquid fuel engine that burnt for a further 22 seconds. This enabled the craft to reach altitudes of 66,000 feet and speeds of Mach 3, with a range of up to 22 miles. The system first gained international fame when an S-75 battery, using the newer, longer-range and higher-altitude V-750VN (13D) missile was deployed in the 1960 U-2 incident, when it shot down the U-2 piloted by Francis Gary Powers overflying the Soviet Union on May 1, 1960. Seven years later in 1967, during the Vietnam War an SA-2 knocked the right wing off of John McCain's carrier-based A-4 Skyhawk, forcing McCain to eject and parachute, badly injured, into Hanoi's Trúc Bach Lake, where he was fished from the water and taken prisoner. It was the SA-2 that delivered what the Vietnamese today regard as their greatest aerial triumph: the destruction of more than a dozen B-52s during the so-called Christmas bombings of 1972. Senator McCain has kindly and courageously autographed one of the rocket panels as a memento of his unfortunate escapade nearly 50 years ago.

A well formed prismatic piece of quartz with black anatase (titanium dioxide) crystals to the surface with handwritten label reading: 'Anatase on Quartz, Handangervidoa, Hondaland, Norway'. See Bonewitz, Dr. Ronald Louis, Rocks & Minerals, 2008, p.163. 25 grams, 65mm (2 1/2"). From Handangervidoa, Hondaland, Norway; from the historic ‘Victorian Museum’ or later collection of Gregory, Bottley & Lloyd (Gregory's); formerly Gregory, Bottley & Co. (1932-1981) and previously J. R. Gregory & Co. (1898-1932); originally James Reynolds Gregory (1858-1898"). This item is part of a historic collection of fossils and minerals which has recently been reviewed by leading geological expert Dr. Ronald Bonewitz. The firm Gregory, Bottley and Lloyd (Gregory's), was acquired by TimeLine Auctions in 2016. London-born James Reynolds Gregory (1832-1899) founded the company, which is the second longest-running gem and fossil dealership in the world. James was educated at Archbishop Tennison's School, and afterward found employment in a jewellery company on Regent Street. In 1858 he established his own business in King William Street. A few years later he moved to ‘very extensive premises’ in Golden Square, Covent Garden. He was one of the best known dealers in London, exhibiting at major commercial shows throughout the world and winning awards for excellence in Paris in 1867, Sydney in 1879 and London in 1862, 1883 and 1884. James primarily bought his stock at auction, from collectors and other dealers, and supplied many major collectors and scientists of his day. He built superb personal collections, a selection going to the British Museum. He wrote many papers and was a member of several learned societies including the Society of Arts. The business became known as J.R. Gregory & Company in 1896, still under James' management with the assistance of his son Albert Gregory (b.1864"). When James died three years later, the business passed to Albert. At the end of the 19th century most London dealers had folded or retired, many selling out to J.R. Gregory & Co. Albert continued by acquiring Russell and Shaw (Est. 1848) in 1925 and Francis H. Butler (Est. 1884) in 1927. Percy Bottley (1904-1980) took over the company in 1931, renaming it Gregory, Bottley & Company with respect to his predecessors. Percy’s company survived the 2nd World War by buying out all of its competitors, including the supplier to Pitt-Rivers, Samuel Henson (Est. 1840) and G.H. Richards (Est. 1897) in 1936. Percy also added many important collections to his stock including those of Rev. F. Holmes in 1940, and the Graves collection in 1943. Following Percy's death in 1981, the business was sold to Brian Lloyd, whereupon it became Gregory, Bottley & Lloyd. Brian had been Sotheby’s main Natural History expert in the 1960s and 1970s, and subsequently traded from Pall Mall. The business continued to thrive, and Brian purchased the Joseph Neeld (1789-1856) collection in 1974 and the historic gold collection of H.S. Gordon, first exhibited at the Empire Exhibition, South Africa in 1936. Brian moved the business to 12-13 Rickett Street in 1982, and to 13 Seagrave Road in 1993. He carried on the company's specialization in historic collections, most recently acquiring that of Robert Ferguson (1767-1840) in 2000. The business moved to Walmer in Kent in 2008, and was acquired by TimeLine in April 2016.
