Small selection of four A.Ls.S., Geraldine and Geraldine Farrar (1), thirteen pages (total), 8vo, Ridgefield, Connecticut and New York, 26th November 1933 - 17th April 1966, all to Clifton Webb. Farrar writes a series of social letters, in part, 'I was recording….when an opulent hostess carried her luncheon guests - of the group I was one - to the Music Box…and I have rarely been more entertained!…Did you ever get the promised photo? I sent it but wonder if it did go safely?' (26th November 1933), 'To tell you that I have a Boston party to applaud you all…the beaming face of the lady…will be me! Tho' I shall see you at our…gathering tomorrow I fear this might slip my mind…Do your mo-mi-ma faithfully!…Its helped many an old canary to keep the curtain raised!' ('Saturday', 24th February 1934), 'I am just emerging (on rubber legs!) from a vicious flu attack…I shall soon be a venerable 80, and wonder where the beautiful years have gone!' (8th March 1960), 'It was good to chat yesterday with you - much like a Requiem, as sweet memories were born of the Met's finale! I hope the new edifice may be graced by the same Muse that has honoured these long years at the old opera home! I can't associate Lincoln Center as a supreme gesture, that should honor Apollo's shrine! But as you say, we belong to another era - I am glad that we have such a privilege' (17th April 1966). AVIATION: A printed 8vo souvenir programme for Championnat de Cocktails des Artistes de Paris, at Luna Park, 21st June 1929, the French text relating a Cocktail Championship and featuring a list of participants, prizes, voting slip, invitation card etc., signed to the printed cover by three French aviators individually, comprising Jean Assollant (1905-1942) French Pioneer Aviator, famous for his 1929 flight in the L'Oiseau Canari, representing the first French crossing of the North Atlantic; Rene Lefebvre (1903-1972) French Pioneer Aviator, a pilot on the L'Oiseau Canari; and Armand Lotti (1897-1993) French Pioneer Aviator, radio operator on the L'Oiseau Canari. All have signed in pencil with their names alone, largely to clear areas. Annotated in ink in another hand to the right margin. The programme has been attractively bound in green half morocco and marbled boards with a gilt stamped title to the spine. About VG L'Oiseau Canari (the Canary Bird) made the first French non-stop crossing of the North Atlantic in the west - east direction, America to Spain, in June 1929. Its three man crew comprised Assollant, Lefebvre and Lotti.
