Vintage Indian patchwork quilt, with silk and cotton shapes; paper backed silk squares are edged with piping and further triangles. All hand stitched with cotton lining. French M1874 Gras bayonet. 17 1/2 inch, shortened T section blade. Back edge with maker's details. Steel hook quilt. Brass pommel. Wooden slab grips ... Russian AKM bayonet. Bowie style blade. Blackened steel crossguard and pommel. Brown composite grips. Contained in its brown composite, ribbed scabbard with lower wire cutting mount. 3 items.
French M1866 Chassepot Bayonet22 3/4 inch, single edged, yataghan blade with large fuller. Back edge with maker's details dated "1872". Steel hook quilt. Brass ribbed grip. Complete in its steel scabbard with matching number "AB64771". Together with an American, M1873 socket bayonet. Hollow ground, triangular form blade. Steel shoulder and socket with swivel locking ring. 2 items.
CHARLES EDWARD WILSON (1845-1941); watercolour, 'The Uninvited Guest', signed lower right, 52 x 35cm, this watercolour bears as a striking resemblance to the patchwork quilt which was sold through Christies, June 5th 2007 for a sum of £9000, complete with original gilt frame and glazed.Additional InformationThe piece has been placed in a modern frame although we do have the original gilt frame which has losses and areas of wear/mould to the internal mount. The main image is good with strong colours.
19th century white quilt with large red cotton appliquéd image of a central pedestal vase of flowers, flanked by two vines with grapes, small diamond shaped quilting overall, cream to the reverse, 196cm by 200cm. A couple of areas of light staining overall and wear, red appliques are very faded.
