This gun appears to be very little used.

AUMONT, PARIS A 25-BORE SINGLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN, late 18th / early 19th century, converted from flintlock, with 81cm. two-stage barrel struck with a maker`s mark and retaining traces of gilt decoration on the breech-section, silver fore-sight, foliate engraved grooved tang, rounded lock signed `AUMONT / A PARIS` and chiselled with a decorative fan on the tail, moulded walnut three-quarter stock (reduced from full) carved with a sea monster`s head beneath the grip, chequered grip and fore-end (chequering worn), the panels of chequering bordered by inset silver stars, the butt with inset silver decorative motifs (one incomplete) including a snake on the underside of the butt, and a shaped border engraved silver panel above each chequered panel on the grip, engraved iron mounts including small side-plate involving two lions, and later wooden ramrod (iron parts discoloured).
