A fine 19th century antique ivory and silver handled stilton scoop CONDITION REPORT: The ivory has gone down to a nice light yellow colour. The spoon bowl shows minor scratching to the surface but nothing particularly prevalent. There is a couple of very small pin head sized indentations to the end of the silver finial (see image). The two ferules connecting to the ivory are hallmarked silver, the stem of the spoon is silver plate.

A set of three graduated late-18th / early-19th century Sheffield plated meat covers; each surmounted with an open-winged eagle above an inverted boat-shaped body with vertical reeding and engraved armorial crest; the largest 56cm wide CONDITION REPORT: These are old Sheffield plate. Along the ridges of each of the meat covers prevalent bleeding is apparent through cleaning. Also the engraved armorial crests are now almost pure copper through cleaning. The cast eagle surmounts look in good condition for age but ridges for all of them are showing quite a lot of copper which gives almost a tiger stripe effect.
A pair of 19th century Sheffield plated wine coolers of two-handled campana form; approx. 25cm high CONDITION REPORT: Each of the two handled campana urns are in three pieces, there is the outer, inner and a circular ring which keeps the inner in. One of the urns circular ring section at the top doesn't fit “exactly” and is slightly off. It looks like the pieces are tarnished and there is some plate away through polishing etc. In our view this is silver plate and possibly not old Sheffield plate. The coolers appear to be in good general order with no big dents, restoration or damage noted except for some of the plate away.
A good early 20th century silver-plate cased miniature travelling clock; the rectangular Art Deco style dial with Arabic numerals; hinged carrying handle; the gilded signed French movement appears in good working order; within original leather-bound carry-case with original key housed in its lower section
A pair of late 19th century Portuguese ceramic wall hanging reliefs in the style of Bernard Palissy; each encrusted with fruits of the sea to include sand eels, sea urchins, fish, mussels etc.; impressed marks to undersides, each approx. 20cm diameter CONDITION REPORT: The plate without the lot number ticket appears to be in good general overall condition with a small glaze chip to the rear of the tail of the eel. Some of the glazing exhibits minor crazing and there appears to be a small match head sized piece of glazing away from the mouth of the eel but looks in reasonable general overall condition. There is also a match head sized chip to the edge of the plate where the glazing has come away. The underside of this plate looks in reasonable order. The plate with the Lot number hanging from it is in general good overall original condition with no major problems noted. Good general overall order and condition. Both of the plates have an impressed mark to undersides. Some small areas of the seaweed of the plate with the lot number are away and looks like one possible double match head sized piece away from the seaweed which in our opinion could be rectified easily.
A Rare Victorian Swaithe Main Disaster Plate By J. Wardle And Co. Mitchell, coal owner. Dia, 8 3/4 inches. Old hairlines and several chips. Please note this is a televised lot in conjunction with BBC Antiques Roadtrip
An Earthenware Soup Plate By J. & M.P. Bell & Co. Ltd Glasgow In 'KAPAL BASAR' Design, circa 1890's. Marked to underside, Kapal Basar rn. 192115. Finished in red and green colour way. The centre depicts a ship with a square centre sail and oars. In the sky above is a dragon with a double body. The border pattern consists of oriental floral and lattice motif. During the second half of the 19th century Bells developed a range of designs specially geared to the Eastern market. One of the design innovations used by them was the two-coloured printed pattern, where the central motif and border were of different colours, as in this example. Large chip to under glaze under rim, dia 10 inches.
A pair of gilt-framed and glazed colour plates after Archibald Thorburn detailing Common Partridge, Red Legged Partridge and Quail; the second plate with Ptarmigan (Winter and Autumn), together with one other similar gilt-framed and glazed Edwardian period Archibald Thorburn colour print of a Peregrine Falcon, signed Archibald Thorburn in pencil in the margin lower left, print size 25cm x 18cm (3)
A mid 19th century porcelain part tea/coffee service: eight tea cups, three saucers, five coffee cups, two two-handled cake plates and a slop bowl (19 items); each piece individually gilded and hand-decorated with topographical scenes of ruins, buildings, grand country houses etc. within vignettes; some pieces with small painted numbers to undersides CONDITION REPORT: The 2 cake plates - the first looks in generally good order the central square gilded decoration does shown some wear commensurate with age and there is some minor wear to the gilded border on the outside edge. The vignettes look generally still well painted with some minor scuffing to the paint surface. The underside of the first cake plate looks in good order generally. The second two handled cake plate does have some minor rubbing on the four topographical vignettes although the central gilded decoration is in slightly better order that the first plate. The two handles look in good condition and the underneath looks in good general original condition. The large slop bowl is noted to be quite dirty inside although this appears to rub off with some effort. The gilding and vignettes here are quite nice with some minor surface scratching to the three puce reserves. Some minor gilding rubbing is noted to the top of the scallop edge and also to the interior central decoration. No restoration, or hairlines or chips are noted. The three saucers, the first shows minor gilding wear around the scallop edge and also to the central circular decoration although the topographical vignettes are generally good. The second saucer is slightly better with again only very minor rubbing generally although there is a minor pinhead sized firing fault to one of the puce reserves, underneath looks good. The third saucer has slightly more gilt rubbing and has again minor rubbing to 1 or 2 vignettes. The central section is also slightly worn and underneath is in good general order. The five coffee cans have been inspected and generally the gilding is good as are the vignettes. There is some minor wear commensurate with age. One of the handles appears to have been fixed on in an “haphazard” manner angling to the left although this is an original fixing. One of the cups has a very minor pinhead sized piece of porcelain away around the rim and has at some stage probably been retouched but this is a very minor blemish. No hairlines or restoration noted on the 5 coffee cups but once again some minor gilt rubbing and surface scratching to the piece reserves commensurate with age. In our opinion these cups would clean up quite nicely. Some of the handles also shown minor gilt rubbing through usage. The 8 tea cups, similar condition with minor gilt rubbing as expected around the edges at the top on the lip and the undersides of the circular slightly spreading feet are dirty. The cups appear to be dirty but this appears to come off with ease. One or two of the cup handles also shown minor gilt loss and some losses to the inside of the cup gilding decoration at the top but nothing dramatic. No repairs, chips, hairlines or major problems noted. The main criticism being the minor gilt loss. See images.
A set of four late-18th century Chinese export porcelain plates hand-gilded and decorated typically in the Imari palette, 22.75cm diameter CONDITION REPORT: There is some minor surface scratching apparent under a glass and a match head sized chip away to the rim of one of the plates. The plate with the lot number has approx. 2cm hairline running in from the edge of the piece.
An early-19th century concave fruitwood settle with wing sides and top; two interior compartments under the seat boards and raised on sledge style ends, 135cm wide CONDITION REPORT: Overall the settle is considered to be structurally sound. There is some discolouration and colour variations to the back boards and seat etc. The two concave seat boards are separate and come away forming a storage area below the seating, these pieces are original and have evidence of historic woodworm although the eye is not drawn immediately to this. The concave section below also has evidence of historic woodworm and there is worm to be seen along the left hand shaped bottom bearer (see image). Looking at it from the front the right hand wing has been broken and re-affixed at some time with an approx. 6cm iron plate. The right hand bottom bearer also has some evidence of woodworm although the piece is very heavy and feels sturdy and sound. The back boards all appear to be in reasonable condition and below the left arm there is also an historic split. Looking at the piece the worm to the lower left and right supports looks fresher than the other worm but in our opinion this could be addressed. Some scratching, scuffs and knocks etc., commensurate with age. We suggest that the settle would benefit from a good wax polish and would then look a lot better. Colour is quite pleasing to the eye.
