Items relating to Lindbergh’s first solo crossing of the Atlantic, 1927, comprising: folding menu printed in black and yellow for “Luncheon offered by the American Club of Paris to Capt Charles A. Lindbergh at the Hotel Ambassador on May 24th 1927” including “Bombe glacée Lindbergh”, with top of the globe and details of flight route, on the front is a lithograph of Lindbergh’s plane Spirit of St Louis, the Eiffel Tower and searchlights and on the back the plane flying over the Atlantic; a small card with autograph of “Charles A Lindbergh”; an etching of the plane in a blaze of light; 2 etchings of French walled towns; all the artwork is signed by the artist A.C.Webb. A 10 bore India pattern Brown Bess flintlock musket, 55” overall, barrel 39” with Tower proofs and stamped “322” at breech, rounded lock with swan neck cock and stamped with crowned “GR” and “Tower” and with ordnance inspector’s mark, walnut fullstock, the butt bearing ordnance storekeeper’s mark (1800?), device over “P.L.D” in circle, and number “32087”, with regulation brass mounts, lower sling swivel only, and replacement ramrod. Good Working Order and Condition (light pitting and staining to lock and barrel, the stock has been worm filled). Plate 17

A Third Reich SA dagger, by Carl Grah, Solingen- Ohligs, with polished nickel silver mounts, the crosspiece stamped “Nm” (SA Group, Nordmark) and “15/13220”, in its anodised sheath, the upper mount also stamped “15/13220”, with its original brown leather hanging strap with plated clip stamped with RZM mark and “M5/25”. GC (the anodised finish worn and some surface rust). Plate 4

An 11.3x 59mm (.45” Turkish) 1st type Turkish Model 1874 Peabody Martini rifle, 49” overall, barrel 33¼”, action with safety catch on right side and with Toughra mark and inscription, the left side marked “Peabody & Martini Patents Man’f’d by Providence Tool Co. Prov. R.I. USA”, fullstocked, the butt with traces of ordnance marks and with chequered butt plate, with 3 sling swivels and correct steel cleaning rod. Good Working Order and Clean Condition (cocking indicator replaced, the stock varnished). Plate 17
A 19th century Kabyle Arab snaphaunce jezail, 53” overall, barrel 39½”, engraved with scrolled design for its whole length, the octagonal breech inlaid with rectangular and oval engraved brass plaques, lock of typical form inlaid with several small engraved metal plaques, fullstocked, plain fore end with 4 engraved brass barrel bands, the butt profusely inlaid with metal scrolled leaves, flowers and studs, the heel of ivory decorated with red and black concentric circles, with small plain iron trigger guard. Basically Good Condition (some wear and light pitting, the action AF) Plate 17
An above average Indian 40 bore flintlock rifle from Sind, 59” overall, the deeply rifled 43¾” damascus barrel having full length slender top rib and slightly flared muzzle, breech and muzzle gold overlaid with floral decorated panels, the English trade lock of late type with rainproof pan, roller on frizzen spring and scroll engraved decoration, fullstocked with 4 narrow silver barrel bands, typical sweeping butt with plain silver mounts and iron trigger guard with traces of silver overlay, and sling swivels. Basically Good Condition (action requires slight attention, replacement sheet brass cover behind breech). Plate 17
18 Argentine helmet/shako plates, including 19th cent French style shako plate with Argentine arms in wreath over escutcheon with grenade, officer’s gilt and OR’s brass pre 1911 HPs, 1890-1900 infantry kepi badge, various air force arms on wings plates, embroidered arms in wreath (2 different), and sundry similar smaller badges, numerals and other insignia; some identified. A 20 bore flintlock holster pistol in the style of c 1760, 3 stage barrel 9”, with London proofs and engraved “London”, the military lock engraved with crowned “GR” and “Tower”, walnut fullstock with engraved brass mounts including long spurred buttcap, trigger guard with acorn finial, openwork trophy of flags sideplate, and shaped escutcheon. Good Working Order and Condition (some pitting around touch hole). Appears to have been assembled at an early date, in the early 19th century, from earlier components. Plate 18
A 48 bore cannon barrelled flintlock boxlock pocket pistol, by I Richards, London c 1775, 8½” overall, turnoff barrel 3”, the breech with London and “Foreigners” proofs, the signed frame engraved with scrolls and trophies of flags and drums, with sliding trigger guard safety and rounded walnut butt with silver grotesque mask butt cap and inlaid with silver wire scrolls. Good Working Order and Condition. Plate 18
A 24 bore John Manton flintlock duelling pistol number 3618 (1801), 15½” overall, well rebrowned sighted octagonal twist barrel 10” with break off breech, with single gold line, gold inlaid “...Manton * London...” on top flat, and gold touch hole; flat lock engraved with fern tip border and “Manton”, with rainproof pan and large roller on frizzen spring; dark walnut halfstock with horn fore end cap and rounded chequered butt with vacant German silver escutcheon; engraved steel trigger guard having pineapple finial and housing the sprung trigger; good replacement horn tipped ramrod with steel worm. Good Working Order and Condition (minor wear, traces of old repairs to fore end). Plate 18
A charming very small 120 bore cannon-barrelled flintlock boxlock muff pistol, by I. Silverside, c 1780, the barrel, frame and trigger guard of tutenag, 5” overall, turn off barrel 1-3/8” with London proofs at breech, signed frame engraved with toothed border and scrolls, with sliding trigger guard safety and walnut slab butt inlaid with silver wire scrolls. Good Working Order and Clean Condition. A delightful piece. Plate 18
A brass barrelled and brass framed flintlock boxlock blunderbuss pistol with spring bayonet by Gill, c 1785, 12½” overall, integral bell mouth barrel 7” with Tower private proofs, left side with ramrod pipes and horn ramrod, and with 6½” spring bayonet beneath released by a rear trigger housed in the elongated trigger guard, frame engraved with panels of swags containing flower head and “Gill” in script, plain rounded walnut butt with brass grotesque mask butt cap and vacant oval escutcheon. Good Working Order and Condition (bayonet pitted, light rust to steel parts, the butt has traces of old repairs). Plate 18 Note: Gill worked in Birmingham from 1744 to 1800 and had addresses in London at Charing Cross and Strand.

A good rare 20 bore Russian flintlock fowling piece, c 1740, 56” overall, 2 stage barrel 41”, octagonal breech stamped with scimitar mark and engraved with maker’s name in Cyrillic; the lock with enclosed action, slender cock and rectangular pan and frizzen, the plate chiselled with a dog chasing a wild boar in woodland setting; pleasingly patinated halfstock carved in relief with scrolls around trigger guard, barrel tang and on the butt, golden brass mounts, including sideplate chiselled with a hound chasing a horse, large engraved butt plate tang, pierced escutcheon surmounted by a coronet, fluted trigger guard, and engraved fore end cap, with sling swivels and good replacement horn tipped ramrod. Good Working Order and Condition, generally quite crisp for age. Plate 19

A Vic R Naval Warrant Officer’s sword, slightly curved, fullered blade 30”, by Behenna Marlborough St Devonport (faint), etched with crowned fouled anchor on one side and crowned R Arms and supporters on the other, in scrolled panels, regulation brass half basket hilt incorporating crowned fouled anchor and with turn down inner portion, shallow grooved pommel and backstrap, in its black leather scabbard, the brass mounts engraved and embossed with oak leaf bands, 2 rings. Basically GC (some wear). Plate 5
A brass barrelled flintlock blunderbuss with spring bayonet, by Ketland & Co, c 1790, 31” overall, bell mouth barrel 15½” with octagonal breech bearing London and maker’s proofs, 9” triangular bayonet beneath released by a catch in front of the trigger guard and with ramrod pipes on the left side housing a steel ramrod, the large flat stepped lock with typical Ketland & Co signature in script, the walnut halfstock with carved apron around breech tang and brass mounts. Good Working Order and Condition (slight damage to fore end, the bayonet catch fails to fully engage with the bayonet) Plate 19

A Geo light company officer’s sword, c 1800, with unusually long shallow fullered, curved blade, 32½”, by “Thos Wilcos. Warranted” (Hill St B’ham, 1777-1808) lightly etched with crowned GR cypher, crowned R Arms and supporters, standing officer with sword, trophy, with scrolling and foliage, gilt hilt, the guard slotted with 3 loops each side, into pierced crowned GR cypher and knucklebow, to lion’s head pommel and backstrap, diced pronounced ivory grip (cracked) in its leather scabbard with brass locket and (replaced) chape. Basically GC, retaining approx 20% original gilt (blade some wear and light pitting, scabbard leather AF). Plate 5
