An SS11 air to ground missile, a French development of the German World War II, X4 missile, a wire-guided anti-tank missile utilising a shaped charge warhead, the SS11 saw service in the Royal Navy and British Army from circa 1970-1985, green painted dummy missile with wooden warhead and fins and a steel body.
19th century AD. A Colt six-shot single-action 1851 model Navy percussion revolver in .36 calibre; the 19cm hexagonal rifled barrel with loading lever below (lacking main pivot screw and one dowel peg) and brass blade foresight (a later fitting?), numbered 126155/2 inscribed with '- ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U. S. AMER[ICA -]' to top face, cut through the last letters by the modification fitting of a separate V-backsight, the barrel key with modern retaining screw; six-chambered cylinder with nipples, numbered [24]305 (traces only of engraving); brass trigger guard, numbered 24305 and backstrip, mahogany grip with diamond mother of pearl and rectangular German silver insets to left; naive small heart emblem cut into right; frame with trigger and hammer assembly (lacking/broken mainspring) with some screws being modern replacements, numbered 126155/2. 1.12 kg, 33cm long (13"). Property of an Essex, UK collector; acquired on the UK art market, 1980-1990. Serial number 24305 was given to a .36 calibre Navy Colt made in 1853; serial number 126155 was allocated to a matched pair of .36 calibre Navy Colts made in 1862. [No Reserve] Fair condition; surfaces pitted and lacking elements as noted. An iconic firearm.

MEDAL GROUP: A First World War medal group and related items for a BZ 2032 AG Winter, RNVR (Royal Navy Reserves). Both Wae and Victory medal (with original box and ribbons). Along with the Queen Mary Christmas tin, Queen Mary 1915 Christmas card, and a letter from the Admiralty dated 1923 regards the issuing of the medals. Nice collection.

A R MARINES TO RAF OFFICERS GT WAR TRIO. A 1914/15 Star in box of issue awarded to 2/Lt D B Wooley R .M. British War & Victory Medals in boxes of issue, awarded to Lt D B Woolley RAF. Duncan Boyd Woolley was awarded his 1914/15 Star under The Royal Marine Officers Roll. His Bwm & Victory Medals were issued under the Air Ministry Rolls. Commissioned into the Royal Marines T/2/Lt 29/9/1915. Temp Lt 29/5/1915 Transferred/attached Royal Flying Corps as an Observer 30/10/1916. Lt/Observer RAF 1/4/1918. Placed on the Unemployed List on the 4/5/1919. Promoted from Petty Officer, his last Naval entry appears in the Navy List of April 1917.
AN 1805 PATTERN ROYAL NAVY LIEUTENANTS SWORD. An 1805 Pattern Naval Lieutenants 'Lighweight' or Dress Sword. Ornate hilt with stirrup guard bearing entwined foilage, anchor and crown decorated langets. Straight tapering six-sided narrow blade of 27.3/4" length. Lightly etched decoration, to the first few inches of the blade, lacking a scabbard.
A ROYAL NAVY- ROYAL AIR FORCE LSGC GROUP OF FIVE MEDALS.. British War & Victory Medals named to J.52085 C R Trevett Sig.R.N Shown as (AM-Air Ministry) service in C1918. Royal Air Force Long Service Good Conduct Medal named to 350913 F/Sgt C R Trevett RAF. Unnamed as issued Defence & War Medals, issued for service in W W 11 at RAF (Ind Imp type) Abingdon Oxford. At this time C1940, he was promoted F/Officer in charge of (Signals), later Flt/Lt (temp) in 1943 in the Technical Branch.
ADMIRAL A W ACLAND-HOOD MEMORABILIA. Two naval trunks with brass plates or labels denoting they are the property of Arthur William Acland-Hood RN. Both mid 19thC in origin, with the cap worn by Captain A W A Hood, in the Second Opium War. Whilst Captain of HMS Acorn a small Gunboat on the China Station. The old label inside the cap reads, 'To be taken great care of'. Cap worn by Captain Arthur William Acland Hood RN . (Afterwards Baron Hood of Avalon) In the China War in 1857. Complete with Victorian officers badge, also a Stohwasser & Winter of 39 Conduit Street, London W, label. With this lot is a part of an explosive device, it appears an early Chinese underwater 'Torpedo'. The label on the wooden block with nails and a brass wheeled device reads. ' Part of the Infernal machine which exploded within 20 yards of HMS Acorn , in the Canton River on May 3rd 1857. The machine contained two tons of powder and was guided under water by means of large rings shipped along a Bamboo cable & guided on each side of the river by men with guide lines concealed by the high banks, the Guard Boat was leaving HMS Acorn at 4:00 am and moving accidentally in the direction of the men guiding the machine. They fancied they were discovered and pulled the trigger line a moment too soon and no damage was done by the explosion. Arthur Hood who commanded the Acorn so wrote. (Just under 13" long 4" wide and 1.1/2" deep.) Silvered buttons with the Hood Crest, also Naval officers buttons. The smaller crested buttons are mostly on cards, all are a walking bird with anchor background, the sets and loose examples number around 200 in total. Also with this lot are two artefact's from Pompei in 1896, one with part of a mosaic the other in marble. Both have labels and dates of collection noted. Arthur William Acland Hood born 18/7/1824, in Bath Somerset. Died in Glastonbury (Butleigh) Somerset 16/11/1901, aged 77 years. Served in the Royal Navy from 1836 until 1889, retiring aged 65 years, as 1st Naval Lord. Took part in the Capture of Acre in November 1840, Lieutenant in January 1846. Served on the Cape of Good Hope in HMS Excellent. Served in the Crimea War including the Defence of Eupotoria in November 1854. Awarded the Order of Medjidie 5th Class. Served on the China Station in HMS Acorn from May 1856. Took part in the Battle of Fashtan Creek against the Junks in June 1857. Thence the Battle of Canton in December 1857. Promoted Captain in February 1858. Rear admiral 2nd Naval Lord March 1876. C in C Channel Squadron. 1st Naval Lord awarded KCB 1886. Retired aged 65 Baron Hood of Avalon 1889. He married in 1855 Fanny Henrietta MacLean, they had two daughters. A Brass Desk Plaque presented to his wife Lady Hood inset in an oak frame. Celebrating the launch by her, of HMS Trafalgar September 1887. With details of both tonnage and horse power etc. 8.1/2" x 6", with other lesser artefact's.
MEDALS TO THE LAW FAMILY IN WW1 & WW11. A 1914/15 Trio to the father, 1743 Cpl J Law KRRC. British War & Victory Medals named to 1743 Sjt J Law KRRC. Serving in France from 18th May 1915, later as a Sjt in the Machine Gun Corps, later still as a Sjt attached the Kings African Rifles. His sons WW11 group of three medals, all unnamed as issued. 1939/45 & Africa Stars, War Medal. Able Seaman CJX335709 James Frederick Law born C1923, the son of James and Evelyn Florence Law of Peckham London. Killed in Action serving on SS Benalbarach sunk off Algiers January 7th 1943, with the loss of 410 lives. The younger son of James and Evelyn Law born in 1927, joined the Royal navy as a Boy 2nd Class in February 1942. Awarded the 1939/45 Star, Atlantic & Burma Stars, the latter with Pacific bar. Photocopied details of Frank Lionel Law's Naval service 1942-47 are with the group.
A WW11 MERCHANT NAVY CASUALTY GROUP A S S Observer (Liverpool) casualty group of four medals. Box of issue and condolence slip, named to Charles Milton Roberts. 1939/45-Atlantic-Africa-War Medals, all unnamed as issued. The son of Charles Henry and Mary Beatrice Roberts aged 20, of 18 Trinity Rd, Hoylake, Wirral, Cheshire. The box is addressed to the parent at the family home. Commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial. The ship was lost on the 16/12/1942. She was Torpedoed Of Cape Sao Roque by the U 176, with the loss of 66 of her 81 Crew Members, under cargo. U 176 sunk 11 ships (53,000 Tons) prior to being sunk herself in May 1943, by the Cuban Navy .Her Commander Reiner Dierkson was posthumously awarded the German Cross in Gold (January 1944)
A KRIEGSMARINE BATTLE ENSIGN. A large 11' x 6' German Navy Flag of the Nazi period Kriegsmarine, complete with fixing rope and markings. In very good overall condition, marked with Kriegsmarine M and Reichsdienstfl Gr 8 ER 75 on the white spine. The original corded rope with loop top fixing and a meter or so of tie rope. There appears to be only slight staining and no moth damage evident.

A Naval General Service Medal GV1 bar Palestine 1936-39, named to J.28297 A E Harris A.B. R.N. A Long Service Good Conduct Medal GV named to J.28297 A E Harris A.B. R.N HMS Queen Elizabeth. Albert E Harris is listed as serving on HMS Ajax during the Gt War. HMS Ajax was a Battleship of the King George V Class, during the 1914-1919 period, launched around 1913. She was in the Battle of Jutland and was scrapped in 1926. Further research would confirm the ship he was on in Palestine, perhaps if he went onto service in W W 11. He was awarded his Long Service Good Conduct Medal whilst serving on HMS Queen Elizabeth. A Battleship launched just in time for the Gt War, she was the Flag Ship of General Sir Ian Hamilton in the Dardenelles Campaign. After the war she became the Mediterranean Flagship until C1937. Attacked by Italian Frogmen in December 1941 and seriously damaged. Scrapped in 1948. See Illustration
A delightful velveteen 1940s hat with blanket stitching to a point on the crown and a bow detail, a corded velvet hat with a pleated brim in the shape of a Tudor cap, decorated with a grosgrain bow 1940s and an early navy 1950s straw hat decorated on the crown with coloured flowers under net details and the crown and brim trimmed in velvet ribbon early 1950s (3)
