A group of letters and other ephemera from 1946, shortly after the bombing of Hiroshima. Written by Derek Ernest Hollingworth, Radio Officer in the Merchant Navy, the letters include description of visits to Japan and Hong Kong, "Hong Kong is an oasis in the desert", descriptions of Chinese and Japanese local people's clothing, a visit to Hiroshima on 27th April '46: "The roads were in absolute foul condition...Hiroshima itself is absolutely flat...pieces of glass have been bent and fused together by the terrific heat...I think we have seen the last war fought with tanks and guns...", etc. Together with BCOF Base and British Forces Commonwealth badges and personal ephemera.

Kaiserin Auguste Viktoria (1858 - 1921) - persönliche Kfz-Standarte mit Dokumentation Zweilagiges, gelbes Seidentuch, beidseitig reich bestickt mit schwarzer und farbiger Seide, dabei der bekrönte Hohenzollernadler, die Collane des Hohen Ordens vom Schwarzen Adler und das Eiserne Kreuz (1870). Etwas gedunkelt, teils fleckig, Gebrauchs- und Altersspuren. Maße aufgefaltet ca. 45 x 84 cm, zusammengelegt ca. 45 x 42 cm. Nach Einliefererangabe stabilisierte ein Rahmen, der jetzt fehlt, das Tuch und ermöglichte die Befestigung an einer Stange des Fahrzeuges.Dazu eine Mappe mit Dokumenten, datiert 1961 - 1963, aus denen hervorgeht, dass die vorliegende Standarte in der Zeit des Umzuges des Kaisers in die Niederlande ein Geschenk an Ernst Wupper, Fahrer im kaiserlichen Dienst, war: "Mein Mann sagte mir, der Prinz (Eitel Friedrich, d.A.) habe gesagt: Herr Wupper, behalten Sie die Standarte als Andenken!". Die Generalverwaltung des vormals regierenden preußischen Königshauses bemüht sich nun mit Julius Knoop, ab 1908 Fahrer des Kaiserpaares, um Herausgabe der Standarte aus dem Besitz des Beschenkten, dabei auch Briefwechsel mit Knoop persönlich. Außerdem ein Zeitungsartikel "Des Kaisers Leibchauffeur" aus der "Welt" vom 15.12.2005 über Julius Knoop (1887 - 1967). Einzigartiges Zeitzeugnis aus Familienbesitz, wesentlich seltener als die Kaiserinstandarte der Marine mit gleicher Symbolik. According to the consignor a frame, now missing, stabilised the cloth and was used to fix it to a pole of the car.Comes with a folder containing documents dated 1961 – 1963, which show that the pennant at hand was a gift to Ernst Wupper, driver in the service of the imperial family, during the time the Emperor moved to the Netherlands: (tr.) "My husband has told me that the Prince (i.e. Eitel Friedrich) said: Mr. Wupper, please keep the pennant as a memento!". Thereafter, the General Administration of the former ruling Prussian Royal House tried, together with Julius Knoop, driver of the imperial couple from 1908 onwards, to urge the donee to surrender the pennant, including correspondence with Knoop personally. Furthermore, an article entitled (tr.) "The Emperor’s personal chauffeur" published in the "Welt" newspaper on 15 December 2005 about Julius Knoop (1887 – 1967).Unique historical object from family possession, significantly rarer than the navy pennant of the Empress with the same symbols.Condition: II

Ø 51mm, ca. 106g, verschraubtes Stahlgehäuse, rückseitig britische Militärkennzeichnung, Seriennummer 1014922, identisch mit der Werksnummer, hochfeines Kaliber mit Feinregulierung und Zentralsekunde, perfekt erhaltenes Emaillezifferblatt, ebenfalls nummeriert 4922, gebläute Stahlzeiger, Zentralsekunde, hervorragender, praktisch neuwertiger Zustand, vermutlich nie im Einsatz gewesen, funktionstüchtig. Diese IWC Militäruhren sind extrem selten, insbesondere in diesem Zustand. Lediglich 200 dieser Uhren wurden gefertigt.
