Impressive Scratch Built Model of HMCS Snowberry, finely detailed model having a tin based hull painted in camouflage style, figures of the crew and gun emplacements etc. Rigging and features all intact. Mounted onto a painted sea base. Housed in a wooden display case with clear acrylic sides. To the bottom of the case is “HMCS SNOWBERRY”. Dimensions of the casing 92x32x43cm. HMCS Snowberry was a flower class corvette who originally was built for the Royal Navy but during WW2 she served with the Royal Canadian Navy as a convoy escort ship in the North Atlantic. DUE TO SIZE AND FRAGILE NATURE ALL SHIPPING OF THIS LOT WILL BE CONDUCTED BY MAILBOXES TUNBRIDGE WELLS OR IN-PERSON COLLECTION.
Great War Medal & Paperwork Grouping to Head School Master Royal Navy, group consists of British War and Victory medal pair awarded to “HD SCHLMR F G TURNER R.N”. Accompanying the medals are photographs in naval uniform, diary, miniature medals, masonic medal and WW2 Rest Centre Service enamel lapel badge. Also accompanied by some paperwork relating to a family members service in WW2.
WW2 Royal Navy HMS Capetown Long Service Medal Group, consisting of court mounted 1939-45 star, Atlantic star, Africa star with North Africa 1942-43, Italy star, Defence medal and 1939-45 War medal. His Royal Naval Long Service Good Conduct medal is loose, “JX 126127 E F BURTENSHAW A/PO HMS CAPETOWN”. Accompanied by a set of miniature campaign medals. HMS Capetown was a Light Cruiser of Cairo class. On 6th April 1941 HMS Capetown was torpedoed and damaged off Massawa, Eritrea by the Italian motor torpedo boat MAS 213.

An impressive scratch-built WWI Royal Navy Super Dreadnought warship. HMS ‘Orion’, the Royal Navy’s fifth ship of the line at Jutland, the flagship of Rear Admiral Arthur Levenson, Commander of the Second Battle Squadron. The model is of plywood construction and built to a scale of 1:96. The hull is grey above and red below the water line. The vessel is equipped with 3 twin gun turrets for’ard and 2 aft. It has 2 lifeboats, a steam launch, searchlights and flies embroidered flags from the rigging. HMS ‘Orion’ is controlled by a Planet radio controlled system, employing 4 channels. One channel each for steering, speed, searchlights and turret rotation. Powered by two 12 volt geared MFA motors. Two 6v rechargeable gel cells provide up to 4 hours running time. Length:183cm (72"), beam 28cm (11") and a draught of 9cm (3.5"). GC, minor repairs required. Complete with carrying cradle.

Speer with Additions from the latest Navigators", London, Robert Wilkinson, 1796, with dedication "To His Royal Highness...Prince of Wales", hand-colored engraved map, 28 1/2 in. x 46 1/2 in., Ref: Phillips Maps, p. 1057; Servies, 494 (not listing this issue) Note: Captain Speer served in the Royal Navy, serving over 20 years on the Mosquito Coast. With his deep knowledge of the West Indies he produced many maps of the area, his most notable publication being The West-India Pilot in 1766.
Joseph Frederick Wallet Des Barres (British, 1722-1824) , "The North East Shore of the Gulph of Mexico", London, c. 1780, monumental copper engraved map, from The Atlantic Neptune, showing the area from Mobile Bay, AL eastward to Apalachicola, FL, 28 in. x 81 in . Ref.: Phillips Atlases, 1198-1205; Servies, 506. Note: Used extensively by the Royal Navy during the American Revolution, the Atlantic Neptune was the finest large scale sea atlas of the U.S. and Canadian Atlantic coast line ever produced. The maps were produced over a six year period (1775-81), and are known for their accurate portrayal of various sounds, bays, bars, and harbors as well as navigational hazards. This chart show an area from Bon Secour Bay at the mouth of Mobile Bay in Alabama, eastward to Apalachicola in Florida. The inlets, with soundings at Panama City, Destin, Pensacola and Perdido Bay (near Gulf Shores, Alabama) are shown. At the time of the issue, the only real settled areas shown were Pensacola and a small village just to the north named “Campbell Town” which does not exist today.
