An historical, hardwood mounted, white metal memorial plaque presented to the Famous Aviatrix, The Hon. Mrs Victor Bruce F.R.G.S. (1895-1990). The wood carved with peaches, the plaque designed with lotus beside the four-line inscription with the date, (?) 12-11-1930. Acknowledged as the first pilot to fly from England to Japan, the first Aviator to cross The Yellow Sea, and the first woman to circumnavigate the land mass of the World by aircraft, Mrs Bruce received this award for the 10,000 Km flight, (presumably to Amoy), with the Compliments of The Xiamen City Air Force (?or Navy). Overall dimensions about 16.5 x 18 cm, with hinged wood stand.Mrs Bruce's autobiographical account of this journey appears on a number of 78 rpm, 12 inch, records issued by Columbia Records and a written summary by Mrs Bruce, also appeared in her 292 page book, entitled. 'The Bluebird's Flight' (published by Chapman & Hall Ltd./London/MCMXXXI. The foreword by Colonel The Master of Sempill, A.F.C., A.F.R. Ae.S.). Condition Report Please note that the damage includes: some areas of wear, deterioration and/or bruising to both metal and wood.

A good quality pre WWI R Navy silver deck watch, 36hr movement, gilt winding knob, maker’s name on dial “R.H. Halford & Sons London” with no “5180”, the name and number repeated inside on the movement with broad arrow and address “129 Fenchurch St EC & 41 Pall Mall, SW, London”, HM London 1904, diam 2¼”, fitted into brass mount with glazed screw on top, all inside mahogany case, 4½” x 3¾” x 2½”, the lid with brass spring catch and inlaid ivory disc with maker’s name, initials “CW” and broad arrow; used for extra navigational purposes in order to avoid disturbing the ship’s clock. A 5 shot .36” Manhattan Fire Arms Co “Navy” percussion revolver, the 4” barrel with address and patent dates (faint), number 68848 on all parts; London proved, the cylinder with series of fight scenes in foliate bordered ovals and bearing 1859 patent date; varnished walnut grips, the flat base stamped “NR Co”. Basically GC, the trigger guard retaining most original silver plated finish (trigger spring AF, barrel wedge screw missing, dark patina and surface rust overall, grip varnish patchy).

A collection of items belonging to Sgt Charles Ernest Dencer, Royal Marine Artillery, later PO, comprising Broderick cap with white linen cover (2 spare) and brass grenade cap badge, leather sweatband with “RMA” and broad arrow, in its tin case with name on lid. A rare sergeant’s gilt forage cap badge (1109), pair brass RMA titles, 7 large and 4 small RMA buttons, cloth roll with knife, fork and spoon, stamped “CED” and “RMA” 13945 and E Dencer; 2 identity tags, webbing bayonet frog with stamps, linen shoulder bag, 2 sgts stripes and one gilt, 2 PO crowns, half cloth bound note book “General Information” containing Dencer’s notes and diagrams, 4 photostat pictures of single and group photos. GC Plate 2 Note: Dencer’s WWI trio (RMA), WWII Defence and War medals and RN LS & GC 2nd issue were sold at DNW on 29th March 2000. Sgt Dencer was born 29th August 1896 and enlisted in the Royal Navy 9th February 1914.
