Vol. 1 with title with engraved vignette and 2 lists of subscribers, title to vol. 2 dated 1798 bound at end of vol. 6. Issued in 72 parts, the Flora Londinensis is much more comprehensive than its title might suggest, for it extends to most of the English flora. It could properly be regarded as the first colour-plate national flora. "Curtis adopted the novel plan of having specimens drawn to a uniform scale and to life size, and most of the plates display a high degree of accuracy. In the opinion of Salisbury, the majority of the figures 'represent the most successful portrayals of British wild flowers that have ever been achieved." (Henry II p. 67).

Bound in at the end is 12 page ms with a copy of an account of the late Mrs Dorset by the Rector of Kingston by Sea and copies of poems by Mrs Dorset from MS sources.

Charles II by Letters Patent granted the rights of Africa to the Royal African Company and this important Act, which includes listings of slaves, saw the Crown purchasing back the rights to Africa. Attractive Exemplification of a Final Concord Recovery, dated 23rd January 1638, between Alexander Wightwicke and John Byrche against Walter Wrottesley and his wife Mary for the Manors of Wrottesley, Tettenhall Clericorum and Butterton, the Grange of Woodford with thirty messuages, ten cottages, six tofts, two dovecotes, forty gardens, thirty orchards, sixty acres of land, one hundred and fifty acres of meadow, a thousand acres of pasture, one hundred acres of wood, fifty acres of heath, one hundred acres of moor, twenty acres of water, and rent in Wrottesley, Tettenhall, Clericorum, Butterton, Woodford, Trusley. Wombourne, Wolverhampton, Tipton, Grindon, Waterfall, Codsall, Bilbrook, Orton [Overton] Wightwick, Longdon, etc., together with the Manor of Lichfield and its lands, written in an attractive chancery script with decorated letter to top line, with accompanying translation. An important document covering the recovery of several Lordships and large areas of land that are now densely populated industrial areas of Staffordshire and the West Midlands. (1)
