A Mintons Art Pottery Studio Kensington Gore vase circa 1871-75, painted with flowering branches terminating in dark green and pale brown leaves against a pale brown ground, printed factory marks, painted '*60' and '303' in black, shape number 7386, 26cm high (extending firing crack)Built on the Gore estate in 1871, the Studio lay in close proximity to institutions which would help instruct, educate, and inspire its artists – the South Kensington Museum, the School of Art, the Horticultural Gardens, and the Royal Albert Hall. Nevertheless, the short-lived Studio had a significant impact on the company and its future by paving the way for the many talented artists who supplied designs or worked there - such as the likes of Dr. Christopher Dresser, John Moyr Smith and W.S.Coleman who would continue to work for the company and produce some of their most exceptional designs.
